Top Shelf // “Watch The Throne” Nike LeBron 9

words & images // Nick DePaula:

Long before Drake and Future teamed up for a (disappointing) joint album, both Kanye West and Jay Z joined forces on the much-loved Watch The Throne and its subsequent 63-show tour during the fall of 2011 and into 2012.

It was during that time that Kanye began wearing the Air Yeezy 2 regularly before its June 2012 launch, but Nike also gifted both Ye and Jay with a custom sneaker to celebrate their tour — the clean black and gold “Watch The Throne” LeBron 9.

With a black mesh and faux carbon weave upper, the shoe was set off by hits of metallic gold along the Swoosh and also featured a very timely Givenchy-inspired printed sockliner and laces.

Take a detailed look at the very rare “Watch The Throne” LeBron 9s below, in our newest edition of Top Shelf.

Watch Photographers Swopes & David Hubacher Get the Perfect Shots in the New Balance 247 Sport

From equipment choices like cameras and lenses to creative decisions like composition and shooting angle, photographers with different specialties can capture the same subject in myriad manners. Taking that idea and running with it, our friends at Hypebeast and New Balance linked Chicago-based urban photographer Swopes with Swiss nature shooter David Hubacher to check out the nuances of their styles. With neither having been to the other’s city previously, Swopes and David spent a week exchanging techniques while hiking, climbing, and negotiating their way to some epic shots.

Along the journey, we documented the mashup of new photography spots and new cultural learning while the pair test drove the New Balance 247 Sport. The latest evolution of the 247 is designed with comfort and mobility in mind and the pair tested out exactly that — from the abandoned train tracks in Chicago to the lakes outside of Zurich. Watch the complete video above to see Swopes and Hubacher in action and hear them speak on their experience.

Pick up the 247 Sport Pack on the official New Balance web store starting February 4, with a European release to follow on February 11. Then, keep your eyes peeled for the next installment of our City 2 City series, pairing creatives from around the world, next week.

Watch Jimmy Kimmel Convince People That the Original Apple iPhone is the iPhone 6s

After the announcement of new Apple products set to drop in the coming weeks, Jimmy Kimmel created a new instalment of First Look where his film crew attempted to convince unwitting people that the original Apple iPhone released in 2007 was actually the new iPhone 6s. Kimmel’s mischievous reporter prompted people on the street for their opinions about the device and the responses were hilarious. The segment proves the point that Apple fans will go crazy for anything they think is a new Apple product. Some noted they liked the speed of the device, while others pointed out that they liked the fact that it was smaller than its predecessors. Apple, you’ve done it again.

Larsson & Jennings’ In-House Coffee Bar Brings a New Dynamic to Watch Shopping

Fika (pronounced fee-ka) is a Swedish concept, meaning “coffee time.” Incorporating this tradition into its latest flagship, Larsson & Jennings has worked alongside London roasters Alchemy to open its own in-house fika bar. Creative Director Freddie Wyatt had this to say about the new experimental design:

Fika is an integral part of the Larsson & Jennings brand and store experience. It is a great demonstration of the Anglo-Swedish culture and approach that Larsson & Jennings is built on. Specifically, in a store environment, we want our customers to make informed and thoughtful decisions about the purchase of our watches. Serving Fika allows the customers time and space to consider the products and speak with our store staff.

Certainly a new concept among watch retailers, the fika bar offers a comfortable space for patrons to contemplate the full collection of Swiss-made watches. For a firsthand experience, be sure to visit Larsson & Jennings’ London shop at the address below, while New Yorkers will be able to enjoy London roasted coffee at the soon-to-launch Bleeker Street shop.
