Childish Gambino Reportedly Postpones This Is America Tour After Injury

As of a few days ago, Donald Glover was out on tour, en route to hit 18 cities across the U.S. and Canada apparently as his last hurrah under the moniker Childish Gambino. But a reported foot injury has left Gambino unable to complete the rest of the tour, for now anyway.

Over the weekend, his show in Dallas was seemingly cut short due to his injury. Now, Fam Rothstein, one of Glover’s creative partners, has taken to Twitter to clarify that the nine remaining This Is America dates have been “postponed, not cancelled,” Billboard points out.

The first date affected is Wednesday night (September 26)’s gig at The Forum in Inglewood, California, which venue organizers announced on Twitter. Details of the injury are still unconfirmed, though TMZ reported that Glover might’ve suffered a broken foot.

Before the injury, Glover took time during his Chicago tour stop to honor fellow musician Mac Miller, who died earlier this month. “He was so nice. Y’all don’t know, like, he was the sweetest guy,” he said before launching into “Riot.” “A lot of critics were like, ‘Yo, this corny-ass white dude,’ just like they’re like, ‘Yo, this corny-ass black dude.’ And we used to talk, and this kid, he just loved music.”

Whatever the nature of his injury, Glover seems to be taking some time to get better before he ventures back out to close the live-performance chapter in Childish Gambino’s career. At the start of 2018, at the Grammys, Glover was asked if he was really retiring the Gambino persona, and he said he was.

“I stand by that,” he said at the time. “I’m really appreciative of this. I’m still making another project right now. … But I like endings. I think they’re important to progress.”

Cardi B Isn’t Joining Bruno Mars On Tour Anymore — See Her Heartfelt Statement

Cardi B is being careful with herself.

On Thursday night (July 26), the “I Like It” rapper announced that she’ll no longer be joining Bruno Mars on the last leg of his 24K Magic tour. Cardi’s guest spot was announced back in February, but after welcoming her first child, a daughter named Kulture, on July 10, Cardi admitted that she “underestimated this whole mommy thing” and wasn’t ready to hit the stage.

“Not only am I not just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road,” she wrote on Twitter.

She added, “I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby!”

Cardi elaborated on her decision on Instagram Live, opening up about the struggles she’s faced as a new mother. She explained, “That postpartum shit is really real, y’all. … I respect mothers more than ever now. I see moms differently, especially the young ones that barely have experience and money. I don’t know how they do it.”

Those struggles aside, the chart-topping rapper added that she’s loving life as a new mom and simply can’t bear the thought of being away from Kulture.

“She just melts me,” Cardi gushed. “I don’t feel like nobody can tend to my baby like I can.”

As for Mars, he hasn’t announced a replacement for Cardi, but he did share some kind words for his “Finesse” collaborator, writing, “I know the fans will understand. You are absolutely doing the right thing.”

SZA Is Benched From TDE’s Championship Tour After Injuring Her Vocal Cords

TDE’s star-studded Championship Tour has come to an abrupt — but hopefully only temporary — end for SZA.

On Tuesday (May 22), label founder Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith took to social media to explain SZA’s absence from the last few shows. He revealed that the CTRL singer has been pulled from the trek due to a vocal injury, writing that she’s been ordered to “rest her voice to prevent any permanent damage.”

“We’ve been monitoring her close and this is the reason she missed the Arizona and New Mexico dates,” he wrote. Top Dawg added that the singer will visit a doctor to determine whether or not she’ll be able to rejoin the tour, and promised to keep fans updated on her condition. He and SZA are also trying to find a way to make it up to fans who didn’t get to see her on the missed dates.

SZA retweeted Top Dawg’s statement but didn’t add any comments of her own.

The Championship Tour — which also features Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and more of the label’s talent — kicked off earlier this month in Vancouver. The arena trek is still slated to make stops in major cities like Atlanta, New York, and Chicago before wrapping in Pittsburgh on June 16. Here’s hoping SZA will make it back to the stage for at least a few of those dates.

Big Sean Will Let Fans Pick The Setlists On His New Tour

For his next tour, Big Sean is jogging fans’ memories and serving up an “unfriendly reminder” that he’s a decade deep in the rap game.

On Wednesday (February 7), Sean announced his Unfriendly Reminder Tour, a 31-city North American jaunt with special guests Playboi Carti, Shy Glizzy, and GASHI. In a cool twist, the Detroit rapper is taking a whole new approach to the outing by opening up his catalog and letting fans pick his setlists.

“Before I step into this new chapter of music, I was really sitting and reflecting on the past ten years and all we’ve accomplished,” he wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a throwback-heavy tour trailer. “I had to go back in and listen to all the old mixtapes and albums, and I was like damn man a lot of this stuff didn’t get the true shine.”

He continued, “So with the platform I have now, I thought it would be perfect to revisit a lot of the old music as well as the new classics on my next tour. But I’m gonna give you guys the opportunity to chose my setlist on this tour. Can’t wait to hit the road.”

Ahead of each city’s tour date, fans will be able to cast votes on Sean’s website for the songs they want to see him perform. Also, in select cities, the available tour merch will be customizable, allowing fans to have a wholly unique concert experience.

Last year, Big Sean released two albums: I Decided and the Metro Boomin collab Double or Nothing. Now, he’s working on his fifth studio album — but first, Unfriendly Reminder will take him on a fan-steered trip down memory lane. Bruno Mars Is Plotting A Celebratory Tour With ‘Lil Sis’ Cardi B

Fresh off his domination at the Grammys, Bruno Mars is plotting a victory lap around the country — and he’s bringing a very in-demand guest with him.

The 24K Magic singer — who won six Grammys last weekend, including Album of the Year — hinted on Thursday night (February 1) that he’ll embark on another U.S. tour this year. Mars last toured North America from July to November 2017, but he says he wants to take another spin to “celebrate 24K Magic together one last time.”

But that’s not all. To sweeten the deal, Mars is bringing a special guest on tour: the one and only Cardi B, who features on Mars’s “Finesse (Remix).” “Annndddd…what if I told u imma bring my lil sis @iamcardib on tour so we can really turn your city upside down! Make this finale a party!!” Mars wrote.

No dates or venues have been announced as of yet. Mars is currently wrapping up the Latin American leg of his 24K Magic world tour, and is then scheduled to hit Las Vegas for a four-night run of shows, followed by lengthy legs in Australia, Asia, and Europe. He has international shows booked through July, so it looks like he won’t be returning stateside for a while. But when he does, it’ll probably look a little something like this (meaning it’ll be SO worth the wait):

Puma Confirms Partnership with Jay Z for 4:44 Tour

Last week, Live Nation posted a tweet announcing Jay Z’s upcoming 4:44 Tour with a simple caption of #444 and an attached flyer showing both American and Canadian flags along with the brand logos of TIDAL x Spring along with the PUMA cat logo.

The brand officially confirmed by email to Billboard that they are an official sponsor of Jay Z’s 4:44 Tour and also indicated that they will be working with the mogul on “other collaborative projects.”

Given that Jay Z’s Roc Nation and PUMA have history together, the move did not come as a complete surprise to those familiar with the business of entertainment and sportswear. Rihanna signed on as a brand ambassador and creative director in 2015 where she has lead her award winning FENTY line while also being highly credited with the recent growth of the brand in the lifestyle market. Big Sean, another Roc Nation artist, joined the brand this year after a multi-year relationship with Adidas. Lastly, long time Roc Nation executive Emory Jones created the “Bet on Yourself” collection with PUMA that released earlier this year that tied together both footwear and apparel.

If you follow Celebrity Sneaker Stalker, you will know that Jay is no stranger PUMA kicks.  Over the years he has been spotted numerous times wearing PUMAs opting most often for the classic PUMA Suede silhouette.

The 4:44 Tour will kick off on October 27th in Anaheim at the Honda Center and wrap up at the Los Angeles’ Forum on December 21st hitting 31 cities in total across the US and Canada.

No word yet on what PUMA and Jay Z have in the works for the mentioned “other collaborative projects,” but you can always count on Nice Kicks to keep you posted.
