Nicki Minaj Divulges A Very NSFW Bar For Stephen Colbert — And He Was Not Ready

Stephen Colbert invited Nicki Minaj to The Late Show and the results are legendary. During their sit down, Colbert asked the Queen rapper about her viral sensation “Barbie Dreams” and dropping satirical lines about artists like Drake and Quavo wanting to get with her. However, when the late-night host asked why his name wasn’t mentioned, the show adorably went off the rails.

“I might fuck Stephen after the show / He gon’ come back to work with a magical glow,” Nicki rapped back in response. Stephen was predictably caught off guard and couldn’t stop laughing. At one point, Nicki had to ask the blushing comedian if he was married. She then followed up her previous bars by rapping, “But when you see us please don’t fucking stare / Just address me as Queen Nicki Colbert.”

Later in the talk, she shared that only two rappers seemed to have a problem with their mention in “Barbie Dreams.” Although, she didn’t reveal the names of the rappers.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Nicki’s engineer Aubry “Big Juice” Delaine shared that the Biggie interpolating song was created primarily in one take.

“She told me to load up that beat, put it on loop, and give her about 20 or 30 minutes,” Delaine explained. “Then she goes in the booth and lays that shit down, and that’s what you got. I didn’t know what she was gonna say. I wanna say she did 90 percent of that in one take. She mumbled the hook when she was laying the verses, laid the rest of it, went back and put the hook in the middle. When I heard it — ‘this is incredible.’”

Make sure to catch Nicki when she performs at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Wonder if any of the guys she name dropped on “Barbie Dreams” will be there.

As the Golden State Warriors play host to yet another marquee matchup, Stephen Curry is looking to bring some added energy to the floor with his own custom edition of his newest signature model.

Styled and hand painted by Mache Customs, #30’s latest Curry 4 takes on detailed inspiration from the team’s Chinese Heritage unis, with hits of vivid blue and yellow throughout.

Graphic elements of the new Bay-fueled jerseys can be seen throughout, like the dragon icon and bridge artwork, along with the Chinese character for “Prosperity,” which is found on the center front of the Warriors shorts.

Stephen Curry Honors Wife Ayesha With ‘Seasoned Life’ Under Armour 3ZER0 Release

words & images // Nick DePaula:

During yet another of his many, many endorsement meetings earlier this past fall, Golden State Warriors franchise guard Stephen Curry got to escape marketing talk for a brief moment at his Bay Area home, and slip back into husband life.

“One sec guys,” said Curry, as he looked to his buzzing iPhone.

For Curry’s closest friends and associates, the upward facing red-cased screen flashed an ever-familiar, if not quirky contact: “First Name Baesis”

As he’s done for well over a decade during their relationship, Stephen dropped everything. His wife Ayesha was simply calling to check in for the day, from across the country in New York after a promotional appearance event. It’s a habit that’s long been a daily routine, as the two are often separated throughout the ongoing NBA calendar.

Between Stephen and the Warriors’ rockstar-level road trips this season, and Ayesha’s budding career as a Food Network cooking show host and best-selling cookbook author, the two experienced the busiest of their six years of marriage, as both of their respective careers continue to explode.

With the annual Mother’s Day holiday on the horizon this weekend, Stephen was secretly working months ahead with his sponsor Under Armour to create a special edition pair of sneakers honoring Ayesha and her recent accomplishments.

Inspired by her best-selling cookbook The Seasoned Life, his newest shoe with the brand drafts off of Ayesha’s book cover colors, with extensive detailing found throughout.

The Curry 3ZER0 model features a light grey upper, with a sharp orange tongue and bright green outsole, pulling from the cover’s grass and the book spine’s hits of hues. There’s also gold accents throughout, incorporating a similar metallic treatment found on the book’s author text.

Within the hardbound’s 256 pages are a collection of Ayesha’s 100 favorite recipes, including everything from simple smoothies to more nuanced dinners and festive cocktails. A series of utensils and food icons are also incorporated in simplified graphic fashion onto the shoe’s sockliner, and there’s an illustration of her outfitted in a chef’s hat on the heel for good measure.

Through the clear bottom, you’ll find “The Seasoned Life” in its custom cursive font type, with “CHEF” and “CURRY” atop the midfoot support shanks, a play off of one of Stephen’s nicknames that’s more fitted for Ayesha.

Of her many culinary concoctions, Stephen’s favorite – chicken parmesan – was purposefully left out of the book. “I’m keeping that to myself,” Ayesha has often joked at promotional appearances.

Without any clarity earlier in the week on the upcoming schedule for the Western Conference Finals, Stephen opted to debut the “Seasoned Life” sneaker on Tuesday during the series-clinching fourth game against the Utah Jazz.

As it turns out, the Warriors will now face the San Antonio Spurs indeed on Mother’s Day, providing yet another chance for Curry to honor his wife on the court.

As for the 3ZER0 sneaker itself, the design is an update to Stephen’s regular season Curry 3 model, with some insights from last year’s playoffs helping to fuel the direction. The shoe was built to not only be lighter, but also includes a dynamic collar for added support.

“We wanted to take his shoe, and in designing for the postseason, we wanted to make it a lighter version,” says designer Kort Neumann. “We started with a marathon shoe, and now we’re building a racing spike or a race car for a 2-month time period.”

While Curry typically sticks to a pretty strict palette of Warriors colors on the court, the special edition “Seasoned Life” shoes are a first of its kind in honoring his wife, and might get another exception to be worn as Golden State plays host to San Antonio.

The shoes will fittingly be releasing on Under Armour’s website this Sunday on Mother’s Day morning, and available in a full range of sizes to also accommodate women.

Exclusive // Stephen Curry’s “Dubfetti” Under Armour Curry 3 Birthday PE

words & images // Nick DePaula:

For the fourth straight season, Under Armour Basketball has created a special edition sneaker for Stephen Curry to honor his March 14th birthday, building on the string of birthday cake themed sneakers that we’ve come to expect on an annual basis.

This year’s Curry 3 celebrates Stephen turning 29 today, with an even more bold and loud take on the sweet mix of sprinkles, spongecake and frosting that’ve helped to inspired his birthday shoe hues and textures along the way. In classic low-key Curry fashion, when asked earlier about his birthday wishes, Stephen said he was simply hoping to play some golf and enjoy a family dinner at Benihana.

Curry is currently taking on the 76ers on NBATV’s “Fan Night” game in his special birthday pair. With a taxi yellow Threadborne mesh upper and electric blue Anafoam along the collar and medial side, the shoe is also accented by a white synthetic overlay that features cake frosting-inspired sprinkles that seep over onto the midsole.

As we’ve seen with several other exclusives made just for Stephen this season, Under Armour gave him both a low-top and mid-cut version, as Curry has taken to wearing Lows during pre-game warmups, before lacing up the Mid for game time. Check out Stephen’s exact size 12.5 pairs of both the Under Armour Curry 3 Mid and Low, in his birthday “Dubfetti” theme edition below.

Exclusive // Stephen Curry’s Under Armour “BHM” Curry 3 PE

words & images // Nick DePaula:

All throughout the NBA season, Golden State Warriors reigning MVP Stephen Curry has continued to celebrate several special moments through his Under Armour footwear on the hardwood.

Whether that’s been a hand-painted pair later auctioned for charity benefitting Oakland residents, a graphic-laden version honoring Chinese New Year, or an officially sealed commemorative pair highlighting President Barack Obama’s “Back2Back” terms in office, we’ve already seen his third signature sneaker take on a variety of special edition looks.

During the month of February, Curry will be wearing yet another layered pair, this time honoring Black History Month. Styled in a navy upper that fades into a gold midsole, the pair highlights the courage of those who escaped slavery through the Underground Railroad, escaping northward through countless sunrises and obstacles.

Without maps at their disposal, they’d often follow along the Little Dipper constellation at night, with the North Star serving as the guidance point towards freedom. That faint star detail comes to life through speckles along the mesh upper and through the translucent outsole, with a graphic insole featuring a roadmap of the journey.

Curry debuted the pair this week at home against the Charlotte Hornets, as his father Dell, a longtime Hornets commentator, watched from the sideline. It was a vintage 39 point performance, as Curry dropped 11 3s from all over the floor in just 30 minutes of action, with no need to even re-enter the game for the 4th quarter.

Stephen’s younger brother Seth, an emerging guard for the Dallas Mavericks, has also been spotted in the themed “BHM” pair. He’s been lighting up the league in his own right of late, averaging 18.6 points over his last handful of games, including a 24 point, 10 rebound and 5 assist outing in a win over the Spurs, and a 22 point night in the BHM Curry 3 earlier in the week.

Though last year’s “BHM” edition of the Curry 2 hit retailers, the newest take honoring the monthlong celebration of black history will remain a player exclusive pair, much like the “BHM” Curry 1. Check out Stephen’s exact size 12.5 of the “Black History Month” Under Armour Curry 3 in detail below, and let us know what you think of Curry’s latest PE in the comments section below.

Exclusive // Stephen Curry’s “Lights Out” Under Armour Curry 3 PE

words & photography // Nick DePaula:

With the NBA’s uniform-based color restrictions loosening up for the first of many times this season, Stephen Curry and Under Armour looked to have some fun to celebrate the Halloween weekend. Curry laced up this player exclusive colorway of his newest Curry 3 signature shoe earlier in Phoenix, dropping 28 points on 9 of 17 shooting from the field to pull out a close win on the road over the Suns.

Naturally, the themed sneaker is dubbed the “Lights Out” Curry 3, a play off of Stephen’s renowned lights out range on the court, and of course, a fitting glow-in-the-dark look for Halloween. With a scale-textured midsole, matching Magma Orange collar and accented laces, the shoe is set off by a vivid glow-in-the-dark outsole tying back to the holiday.

Check out Stephen’s exact size 12.5 pair in detail below, and stay tuned for more exclusive looks at the sneakers worn by the league’s top players.
