LeBron James Signs Four-Year, $154 Million Deal with Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James, heading into his 16th NBA season, will join the third team of his career as it was announced yesterday that the King is headed to Hollywood. James inked a four-year, $ 154 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers according to a statement from his agency, Klutch Sports, Sunday evening.

James, 33, declined a $ 35.6 million offer to remain in Cleveland, where we’d returned for four years after leaving the team to play for the Miami Heat. Now a part of the most storied franchise in NBA history as well as the leagues largest market, James is poised to realize his aspirations of even greater wealth in the entertainment capital of the world.

Nike’s lifetime partnership with James will obviously benefit from his move west. The brand is extremely present in Los Angeles as it’s one of their biggest markets. James’ 16th signature silhouette with Nike is set to debut later this year, thus igniting a new chapter in his sneaker legacy. James’ Nike LeBron 15 was the highest selling performance basketball sneaker last year.

LeBron James will wear No. 23 in Los Angeles next season.

Zach LaVine Signs Massive Shoe Deal With Adidas

With momentum across the brand in recent years, adidas Basketball looks to continue to add to its NBA starpower by officially inking rising Chicago Bulls scorer Zach LaVine to an endorsement deal.

First reported by our own Nick DePaula on ESPN, the 4-year deal could be worth as much as $ 35 Million after incentives, and gives the 6’5″ scoring wing and two-time Slam Dunk Contest champ an opportunity to become a future face of the brand. Of course, LaVine was a key centerpiece of this summer’s blockbuster trade that saw Chicago send All-Star Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He’ll be a focal point of the team’s offense once he hits the court this season, and is looking forward to making his mark in his new home, both with the Bulls and adidas.

“Adidas has a great brand presence already in Chicago and I want to take advantage of their resources immediately,” LaVine told DePaula. “Bringing my own flavor, touch and vision is something I’m really looking forward to, as well.”

For now, he’s expected to wear the Crazy Explosive model, with additional PEs in the works for the remainder of the season. The brand recently opened up a new flagship store in Wicker Park — at 5,000 square feet, it also happens to be the biggest Three Stripes store in the world. Stay tuned for more updates on the new adidas partnership for Zach LaVine.

President Obama Signs Law Making Ticket Buying Bots Illegal, Sneakers and Streetwear Could Be Next

The White House announced Thursday that President Barack Obama had signed a new law making the use of bots illegal to buy tickets online. The new bill is called the “Better Online Ticket Sales Act of 2016”, or if you prefer, the BOTS Act.

White House Press describes the new law “prohibits the circumvention of control measures used by Internet ticket sellers to ensure equitable consumer access to tickets for certain events.” This measure of preventing bots starts with forums like Ticketmaster, and other platforms to purchase tickets for concerts, shows, etc. Soon, though, the law could extend to the sell of sneakers and streetwear.

For now the use of bots is completely illegal. Additionally, the use of bots for reselling tickets is prohibited. So in the near future, this law could be reinforced to cover all consumers goods, including sneakers. Stay tuned to Nice Kicks for more on this story.

Breaking: Nick Young Officially Signs With Adidas

words // Nick DePaula:

Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young has officially joined the adidas family, becoming the newest member of the brand’s growing endorsement roster of NBA players.
