Drake And Travis Scott Performing ‘Sicko Mode’ Is The Adrenaline Rush You Need

Drake wasn’t wrong when he told the world that La Flame was “in sicko mode.” Ever since that bold proclamation, Travis Scott’s Astroworld has secured the second-largest debut of 2018 on the Billboard 200, brought a thrilling theme-park adventure to the VMA stage, and given the Houston rapper the No. 1 album in the country for two weeks in a row. Thankfully, Scott returned the favor on Tuesday (August 21) by gracing the stage with Drake during the Aubrey & The Three Amigos tour’s first stop.

The audience at the Scotiabank Arena predictably went bonkers when Scott emerged to perform his verse. It also wouldn’t be a Travis show if he didn’t briefly bring the Canadian crowd to the rodeo. Before he left, the Houston artist performed his 2016 hit, “Goosebumps.”

Interestingly, Drake also took time out of his show to briefly discuss some of his political beliefs with the crowd. The Toronto rapper is generally apolitical in his music, which makes the few words he did share standout.

“I’m forever grateful, everywhere I go, I carry the values of this city with me,” Drake said. “Every night that I go and I do a show in America. I tell them, ‘This is how the world is supposed to work.’ You see, tonight, we got 17,000 people inside one building from all races, from all places, and all we are doing is just listening to music, and smoking and drinking — and enjoying our lives. And I want you to know that that’s something that I learned right here in Toronto.”

Preach, Drizzy, preach.

Travis Scott Shares How Houston Artists From Pimp C to Mike Jones Pushed Him To Make Astroworld

Travis Scott had one of the most explosive, electric, and entertaining performances at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. The “Sicko Mode” rapper brought his vision of Astroworld to Radio City Music Hall with a rollercoaster car, a giant golden inflatable head, and pyrotechnics. Before the ceremony, Scott briefly discussed how Houston hip-hop influenced the ultimate goal of Astroworld.

“That’s like one of the most major points I wanted to do for the album was just, like, bring that sound to Houston and make it go worldwide,” Scott said. “Everybody from Houston, from Paul Wall to Mike Jones to Lil Flip to Lil Keke to E.S.G. to the whole S.U.C., all these people. Bun B, Pimp C — all these people created a culture and a sound for Houston and made it worldwide. I just want to continue what they started, you know? Make sure people don’t ever forget the name Houston.”

Another significant aspect of Travis Scott’s third studio album is the real-world theme park — Six Flags AstroWorld – that influenced the project’s aesthetic. The park opened on June 1, 1968, and is fondly remembered by generations of Houstonians. Unfortunately, it was closed down on October 30, 2005. In a Houston Chronicle article from that period, Jim Dannhauser, the chief financial officer of Oklahoma City-based Six Flags, succinctly described the reasoning behind the park’s closing: “While attendance has gone down, the value of the land has gone up substantially.”

AstroWorld’s demise didn’t hit Travis until he was older and realized he could no longer go back.

“At first it didn’t really set in stone what they was actually doing to the city until I was older,” he shared. “I was like, ‘Woah, we actually don’t have this place,’ when I wanted to go back when I was like 18 or something. It’s like, wow we don’t have it. That’s when it hit me. “

Travis Scott And Post Malone Are About To Wreak Havoc On The 2018 VMAs

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards are going to Astroworld. However, the show might make a pit stop in a post-apocalyptic wasteland if one Texan has his way. Travis Scott and Post Malone are bringing their unique brand of melodic havoc and destruction to the stage this year.

Scott’s first solo VMA performance, after he partnered with Thirty Seconds to Mars last year, will be a medley from his third studio album. The Houston rapper will have a lot of fan-favorite material to choose from. Astroworld’s standout “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake and Swae Lee is headed for a top 10 debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Not to be outdone, “Stop Trying To Be God,” featuring Kid Cudi, James Blake, Stevie Wonder, and Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, already has a superb Dave Meyers-directed visual that sees Travis playing the role of Jesus, while Kylie Jenner is a golden sparkling goddess.

Post Malone has a slew of hits to pick from as well off his platinum-certified album, beerbongs & bentleys. Will he perform the tried and true “rockstar” featuring 21 Savage, decide to go with “Psycho” featuring Ty Dolla $ ign, or show off his solo chops with “Better Now?”

Both musicians lay claim to the most successful first-week totals for an album in 2018, behind Drake’s Scorpion. If projections hold, Scott’s Astroworld, will debut with 450,000 to 500,000 equivalent album units. His only competition for the second biggest release is Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys, which debuted on the Billboard 200 with 461,000.

Scott and Post will be joining a packed performance slate, which includes Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Logic with Ryan Tedder. Jennifer Lopez will perform too, in addition to accepting this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The 2018 VMAs is set to be the year pop’s new ruling class takes over.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Voting is now open at vma.mtv.com!

What’s In Their Wardrobe? // Travis Scott

When it comes to pushing the envelope and doing it well, one of the names that come to mind is Travis Scott. Whether it’s finding a way to emphasize toned down basics or make evident patterns and color palettes look nonchalant, Travis is practically leading the competition when it comes to style points.

Without really having to follow trends in fashion, Travis has literally built his own style, which has since proclaimed him one of the new kings of cool. Known for combining pieces from Louis Vuitton and Supreme (not just the collaboration), Travis Scott is effortlessly becoming one of fashion’s best-dressed stars, earning himself credibility as a streetwear savant. Aside from being a renowned musician with tracks that can be put on an endless shuffle, he’s also earned the title as a part-time designer himself, which would make sense, as he knows how to wear everything you could ever possibly want.

The Nineties are Back

The ’90s are back and so is denim on denim, which Travis Scott has indeed mastered. Travis is especially known for his double denim combinations and layering it in a way that rides nowhere near Canadian tuxedo territory. Whether it’s denim shirts, jackets, or distressed jeans, he knows how to accent these pieces with graphic tees and a hard-hitting footwear arsenal. While ensuring these shades are subtle and easy going, Travis coordinates these essentials with sneaker staples like Jordan 1s and Vans Old Skools.

Aside from the denim on denim combinations he is so well known for, Travis Scott also factors in other trends from the ’90s into his wardrobe, like roomier flannels layered with neutral tees underneath. Another way that Travis incorporates his genius layering tactics into his kit is throwing them over pastel-hued hoodies with boxy tees showing underneath. He’ll even take it one step further by breaking out letterman style varsity jackets or even cargo pants – both of which have been tailored with a modern edge.

Patterns, Color Palettes, or Just All-Black

Travis Scott is a clear proponent of loud colors, outrageous camo combos, and sophisticated all-black layering methods. Camo being the most obvious, Travis has used this pattern for his “Year of the Rodeo” tour merchandise, sported iconic BAPE camo essentials, and worn mismatched camo cargo pants time and time again. And to make these looks pop even more, he’ll mix in his fair share of vivid Jordan 1s, Jordan 4s, or customized Vans Sk8-His (Sharpie style).

In terms of exotic hues with vibrant ambiances, Travis Scott is no stranger to wearing bright pink Supreme sweatshirts, red pants, and overly embellished jeans – all worn in a tasteful matter of course. When wearing more obvious tones, Travis keeps it fairly minimal on the footwear side by incorporating Vans Classic Slip-Ons, Air Force 1s, and even high-end minimalist staples like Saint Laurent sneakers.

Though not a regular occurrence for Travis, some of his best-executed attire is when he keeps in neutral with a series of all-black silhouettes. This allows his footwear rotation to take most of the credit, usually highlighting his array of coveted Jordans – mostly 1s, 3s, and 4s. And as simple as the color combination, Travis recognizes that the pieces themselves can be just as easy, usually pairing them with distressed black denim oversized tees.

There’s Outerwear and There’s Oversized Outerwear

Since it’s such an essential part of his wardrobe, oversized outerwear deserves its own category. One of the more prevalent trends in menswear right now, Travis Scott opts for jackets that are worn a size or two up and have a slimmer fit, so it doesn’t look like he is swimming in fabric. Travis is also a major advocate of Stone Island apparel and incorporates the brand’s exotic color palettes with a range of outerwear and jackets.

There’s certainly a compromise when it comes to buying oversize, as just sizing up for the sake of it will not make you look more stylish. It will just make you look like you buy large clothes.

The key is to nail the fit, generally taking something that fits slimmer in the first place and sizing up so that it still hangs the same way, but exaggerates the sleeve and hem dimensions. And just because you oversize your jacket, doesn’t mean you need to wear oversized pants, nor would that be practical. Travis usually wears slimmer cargo pants or distressed skinny jeans with simple silhouettes like Old Skools or AF1s.

Travis Scott Is Finally Taking Us To Astroworld — Fasten Your Seat Belts

Travis Scott is ready to introduce us Earthers to Astroworld. The Houston rapper took to Twitter and Instagram to reveal his third studio album will release on Friday (August 3). In an accompanying trailer, Scott travels through an apocalyptic world as a new song, rumored to be “Stargazing,” plays in the background.

The name Astroworld is inspired by a Houston theme park that Travis used to frequent as a child before it was shut down.

“The next record is called AstroWorld,” Travis told GQ in a 2017 interview. “It might be the best music that I made. I have two records on the album that are like, man, they are the best. They tore down ‘AstroWorld’ to build more apartment space. That’s what it’s going to sound like, like taking an amusement park away from kids. We want it back. We want the building back. That’s why I’m doing it. It took the fun out of the city.”

In an interview with Zane Lowe today (July 30), Travis shared that his recent signee, Sheck Wes, will feature on the album.

People Are Freaking Out Watching Drake And Travis Scott Play Video Games

Who knew celebrities like Drake and Travis Scott are normal humans who do normal human things? Today (March 15), the internet went crazy after Drake joined famous Fortnite player Tyler “Ninja” Blevins to play the friendly survival video game.

Fans could see the “God’s Plan” rapper and Ninja play on the popular live-streaming video platform Twitch. Ninja is one of the most famous people on the platform, which led to an Instagram follow by Drake, reports Kotaku.

However, the fun didn’t stop there. Travis Scott and JuJu Smith-Schuster of the Pittsburgh Steelers joined to ratchet up the chaos. At one point, Scott goes, ”God’s plan, let’s get it,” when Graham revives him in the game. The proceedings looked so fun that Logic, Post Malone, and Lil Yachty all had something to say about the game on Twitter.

According to CNET, the stream broke the all-time concurrent viewers record on the platform with 600,000 people checking in to watch a virtual Drizzy and La Flame. The previous record was 388,000 views logged by Dr DisRespect.

Of course, a viral Drake moment wouldn’t be anything without fans, celebrities, and Twitch itself turning the event into memes.

Air Jordan “Originals” Poster by Dillon Scott

Let’s face it, as much as you would like to have every single pair of the original Air Jordans, you can’t have them.  For starters, obtaining deadstock pairs at this point is practically impossible with the age of these gems and then when you factor in the fact that the prices would be enough for a new house, alternative ways to appreciate greatness are in order.

Atlanta based artist Dillon Scott has just released a limited edition poster that will look good in your space celebrating all of the OGs from Air Jordan 1-14 without the need to worry about yellowing and crumbled midsoles.
