Nicki Minaj Says Meek Mill Is Still In The DMs On ‘Barbie Dreams’

Nicki Minaj’s Queen is finally here, and the album’s third song, “Barbie Dreams,” is a doozy.

The scathing track samples and interpolates 1994′s ”Just Playing (Dreams)” by The Notorious B.I.G., which infamously saw Biggie going after numerous actresses and singers. The content of the song was wildly misogynistic 24 years ago, and it still is in 2018 — which makes Nicki’s remake all the more welcome. Biggie’s hook, “Dreams of fucking an R&B bitch,” is replaced with Nicki’s, ”Dreams of fucking with any these little rappers.”

Meek Mill, Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, catches the song’s most significant swipe. In the first verse, she spits, “Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck him / I used to pray for times like this / Face ass when I fuck him.”

Nicki and Meek haven’t seen eye to eye in quite a while. In a May interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Mill opened up about how he felt when the Queen rapper commented on his incarceration.

“I wasn’t feeling that,” Mill said. “She shouldn’t have said nothing. And we leave it at that. I don’t feel no way. She know I wasn’t feeling that.”

The Philadelphia MC isn’t the only rapper Nicki mentions in the new song. Another high-profile lyric is about her YMCMB labelmate, Drake. “Drake worth a hundred milli, always buying me shit / But I don’t know, the pussy wet or if he crying and shit,” Nicki declares. She also claims that she caught Young Thug in her dressing room, “stealing dresses and shit,” and jokingly admits Karruenche thinks, “I’m tryna give the coochie to Quavo.”

Kid Cudi Says He’s ‘Reborn’ After Going To Rehab For ‘Suicidal Urges’

Kid Cudi has gone to hell and back. Thankfully, with the release of his critically acclaimed collaborative project with Kanye West, Kids See Ghosts, the Cleveland rapper is finally receiving his flowers. It isn’t easy being one of the most influential artists of the last decade. In a new Billboard cover story, Cudi opens up about life after entering rehab for “depression and suicidal urges” and how it has changed his music.

“It hasn’t been said that I’m good, that I’m OK,” Cudi said. “On Passion, Pain, I never let the world know that I’m good, because I wasn’t good yet. I was thinking, how can I let the world know? It was great when Kanye wanted to use [the song], because it was perfect for both — we are both reborn after what we went through. I couldn’t have made a song like “Reborn” until now, because I didn’t feel reborn yet.

“Reborn” is one of the most inspirational songs on Kids See Ghosts. During the second verse, the Cleveland crooner proudly sings, “I had my issues, ain’t that much I could do / Peace is somethin’ that starts with me.” It is the highlight of the album and represents a place for West and Mescudi to open up to fans about their current personal struggles.

Later in the interview, Cudi also opens up about the October 2016 message he posted on Facebook and his reaction to the outpouring of support. In the post, the Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’ artist described how he hasn’t been “at peace,” since the beginning of his career, as a result of anxiety and depression ruling his life.

“[I] saw that the response was all love and support, and it really touched me,” he continued. “I was in a really bad place, and at the time, I felt like I was letting a lot of people down. It was really hard for me to even write that letter, but I needed to be honest with the kids. I needed to. I couldn’t live a lie. I couldn’t pretend to be happy.”

Pusha T Says Drake’s Upcoming adidas Line is Named After His Son

If you have the Internet or a Soundcloud account, then you’re well aware there’s a pretty vicious rap battle going on at the moment. Pusha T and Drake are sparring at a high level and both fighting dirty. The latest blow comes in the form of “The Story Of Adidon” which alludes to Drizzy having a son that’s both secret and neglected. This allegation came as a surprise and caused some confusion with the following lyric linking the child to Drake’s adidas deal:

Adonis is your son
And he deserves more than an Adidas press run

This morning, Push — also under the adidas roster unless a recent change was made — called into The Breakfast Club to discuss both the beef and the lyric in question.

“Who rolls out their child with a sweatsuit?” questioned Pusha. “See the adidas situation is this: the child, allegedly his new line on adidas is called ADIDON which is named after Adonis his son. We couldn’t know about your child until you start selling sweatsuits and sneakers?”

Hear what Push had to say in the call to The Breakfast Club below.

Cardi B Says The #MeToo Movement Overlooks Women In Hip-Hop

For several months, the #MeToo movement has shed light on how prevalent sexual harassment and abuse are in women’s lives, both inside and outside Hollywood. But according to Cardi B, there’s a double standard at play: women in the hip-hop community aren’t being heard in the same way, and the movement has yet to effectively seep into the music industry.

In a new interview with Cosmopolitan, the rapper calls out #MeToo for not being fully inclusive, especially when it comes to video models, who are often seen and not heard.

“A lot of video vixens have spoke about this and nobody gives a fuck,” she explained. “When I was trying to be a vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their dicks out. I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.’

“These producers and directors, they’re not woke, they’re scared,” Cardi continued, questioning the motives behind the high-profile men publicly supporting #MeToo.

Along the same times, Cardi also discussed her past life as a stripper and how it’s often twisted in the media to paint a misleading picture of her life. The truth, she said, is that stripping is a legitimate job that warrants respect.

“People say, ‘Why do you always got to say that you used to be a stripper? We get it,’” Cardi said. “Because y’all don’t respect me because of it, and y’all going to respect these strippers from now on.”

As per usual, Cardi doesn’t seem to be at a loss for words, and with her debut album finally on the way, it looks like we’ll be hearing a lot more from her soon.

Here’s Why Young Thug Says He Won’t Release New Music In 2018

Young Thug’s always been an unconventional, unpredictable guy who commands our attention. Earlier this week, for instance, he jumped on Twitter late at night to announce that he’s changing his name to SEX. It remains to be seen whether he actually follows through with that or not, but now, Thug’s made another announcement that no one ever expected.

As The Fader points out, the Atlanta rapper revealed in a recent Hypebeast interview that he doesn’t plan to release new music in 2018. The reason is surprisingly poignant: He’s doing it out of respect for his deaf brother.

“I’ve got a deaf brother,” Thug says in the clip. “I’ve got a brother who can’t hear or talk, so I want to act deaf for a year. So I ain’t going to put out no music this year.”

Thug also gave an update on his long-teased Hi-Tunes album — which he’s said is “on the way” as far back as 2015 — saying, “In 2019, I’m going to put out probably Hi-Tunes.”

It’s worth nothing that Young Thug has already had a pretty active 2018 so far — he’s hopped on tracks with A-Trak and Shad Da God — and there may be other pre-recorded guest verses on the way. In any case, vowing to intentionally slow down his hot streak is a powerful thing, especially when you consider that he’s doing it for an amazing reason.

Scottie Pippen Says His Nike Air More Uptempo Stood Out More Than The Jordan 11

In 1996, Hall-of-Famer Scottie Pippen had a very unique signature sneaker, the Nike Air More Uptempo, which featured huge letters on both sides of the shoe. In conjunction with the Bulls’ success that year, Pippen’s shoe was extremely popular, much like his teammate Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan 11. Pippen though, believes that his shoes stand out more than the Jordan 11.

In an interview with Nike, Pippen said in the Bulls’ locker room, the Nike Air More Uptempo stood out more than the Jordan 11 and the Shake Ndestrukt:

Looking back at that ’96 Bulls team, you had the Jordan 11 and the Shake Ndestrukt. What was the reaction to your shoe in the locker room?
I think mine stood out a little more just because of what it said. It was kind of the graffiti basketball shoe — making a statement in real big letters. So it stood on its own.

That year in the playoffs, a bunch of your teammates wore 11s. Were you influenced by them to wear that shoe as well?
Oh no, no. I mean, I did wear Jordans in some games, but I have always tried to focus on my brand or the shoe that I was wearing to make sure I stood by it and believed in it.

Pippen obviously has personal pride, which is why he is hyping up his own sneaker. And from a simplistic viewpoint, Pippen isn’t wrong since the lettering on his shoes do make the Nike Air More Uptempo stand out. But the Jordan 11 are one of the greats and stand out in more than just one way.

Kanye West Says a Million Pairs of adidas Yeezy Boost Will Be Produced This Year

“I guess in a media world where you never hear the truth, the truth can come off as crazy…”

Does Kanye West saying that adidas will produce a million pairs of Yeezy Boost this year sound crazy? Well, if his above tweet from earlier today is any indication, it shouldn’t sound crazy at all.

Just a short time ago, in a quiet moment that West mentioned felt like returning “home from battle,” he said something that adidas Yeezy Boost fans have wanted to hear since the very first pair released: adidas will be making a lot more pairs. One million pairs this year, to be exact.

Quantity, not affordability, has been the ongoing issue with the adidas Yeezy Boost. This news from West should leave fans very hopefully, as most still don’t own a pair of Yeezy Boosts even though they desperately want to. West didn’t go into specifics as to how the one million pairs will be dispersed, but he did mention that adidas is opening new factories to apparently handle the production. This, of course, won’t solve the larger supply and demand issue, yet the sheer numbers should lift the spirits of those who still hope to land a pair.
