Childish Gambino Reportedly Postpones This Is America Tour After Injury

As of a few days ago, Donald Glover was out on tour, en route to hit 18 cities across the U.S. and Canada apparently as his last hurrah under the moniker Childish Gambino. But a reported foot injury has left Gambino unable to complete the rest of the tour, for now anyway.

Over the weekend, his show in Dallas was seemingly cut short due to his injury. Now, Fam Rothstein, one of Glover’s creative partners, has taken to Twitter to clarify that the nine remaining This Is America dates have been “postponed, not cancelled,” Billboard points out.

The first date affected is Wednesday night (September 26)’s gig at The Forum in Inglewood, California, which venue organizers announced on Twitter. Details of the injury are still unconfirmed, though TMZ reported that Glover might’ve suffered a broken foot.

Before the injury, Glover took time during his Chicago tour stop to honor fellow musician Mac Miller, who died earlier this month. “He was so nice. Y’all don’t know, like, he was the sweetest guy,” he said before launching into “Riot.” “A lot of critics were like, ‘Yo, this corny-ass white dude,’ just like they’re like, ‘Yo, this corny-ass black dude.’ And we used to talk, and this kid, he just loved music.”

Whatever the nature of his injury, Glover seems to be taking some time to get better before he ventures back out to close the live-performance chapter in Childish Gambino’s career. At the start of 2018, at the Grammys, Glover was asked if he was really retiring the Gambino persona, and he said he was.

“I stand by that,” he said at the time. “I’m really appreciative of this. I’m still making another project right now. … But I like endings. I think they’re important to progress.”

Chicago Law Enforcement Reportedly Attempts to Bait Local Youth Into Stealing Nike Sneakers

Chicago law enforcement officials are being accused of placing bait trunks filled with Nike sneakers in the underprivileged neighborhood of Englewood on the city’s southwest side. Its alleged intent was to invite would-be thieves — all inner city youth — to steal its contents. Accusations were reported earlier this week when videos of a partially opened truck filled with sneakers was located near a basketball court inhabited by kids. The large majority of them being black.

The truck was said to be overflowing with Nike Air Force 1s and Christian Louboutin sneakers of all sorts. After being recorded by Charles Mckenzie near the basketball court in the largely black community, the unmarked truck was again seen at another nearby location by another local activist, Martin G. Johnson. Community members are accusing Chicago PD of not protecting and serving its community, but praying on vulnerable youth in lieu of chasing down career criminals.

When they ask you why arrest and crime is so highly in black communities. Remind them they do set ups and baits in white communities. They don’t try and criminalize the people in white communities. ————————————————–@realnegus_wakenup3 ??? August 2, 2018 The Chicago Police parked a truck filled with boxes of Nike Shoes in front of kids in a predominantly Black Community, opened it and when they hop in, the Police jump out on them and arrest them (The same way they give us unequal opportunities, put guns & and drugs in our communities but lock us up for it)…thoughts? “Dirty Muthafuckaz”! ————————————————–#therealremyredd #Blackmedia #BotherVex #blackinamerica #BlackLivesMatter #blackhistoryiseveryday #BlackHistory #blackhistorymonth #StephCurry #Lebron #Nas #Beyonce #beyoncé #KimKardashian #cardib #nickiminaj #justiceforchikeshaclemons #MarkeisMcGlockton #JusticeForMarkeisMcGlockton #JusticeForDesmond #NFL #justiceforjunior #JusticeforAntwonRose #getthestrap #inmyfeelingschalleng #ThisisAmerical

The correlation of baiting black kids with “basketball sneakers” as they play basketball in a city that praises both sneaker and hoops culture isn’t lost on Chicagoans or anyone else intimately informed or intertwined with black culture. The racial element of these alleged activities are vastly apparent. In part, such enforcement practices in any community are wrong. Yet, from a wider lens, enacting such deeds in an underprivileged community where means are lesser thus desperation greater, registers as an even weightier offense.

As Vox reports, the poverty rate in Englewood is at least 40 percent, with varying reports that indicate it could be even higher, tallying upwards to 60 percent. Given the staggering poverty rates, and the fact that Illinois is a state where theft crimes in excess of $ 500 are charged as a felony, this alleged honey trap for youths who’d immediately be thrust into a criminal justice system that has long been slanted against blacks, is emphatically predatory.

Chicago PD has a history of bait operations. In plain view of Americans in 2008 when they used bait cars to cut down on auto-theft in high-crime areas, Chicago was the foremost city when others like Dallas and Philadelphia followed with sting operations of a similar volition. San Francisco even implemented bait bikes to slash theft activity.

In most circles, bait operations raise huge civil liberties red flags as they can create crime where it otherwise wouldn’t be. Again, terms like predatory and entrapment come to mind. This, too, could have lifelong ramifications on someone without a criminal record. As in Chicago, even at the age of 18, stealing a pair of Louboutins valued at $ 500 or more would be considered a felony. The offender could face upwards to five years in prison.

Chicago PD and FBI officials would not comment on the alleged Englewood bait truck. Community members are demanding answers, emphatic that such an act would add further strife to an already tense relationship between Chicago’s inner city and local law enforcement.

Kodak Black Is Reportedly Getting Out Of Jail Early

Kodak Black’s jail sentence is reportedly being shortened. According to Pitchfork, Bill K. Kapri, better known as Kodak, is expected to be released from jail on August 18. His lawyer previously told the publication that the Florida rapper would be out of jail by September 17.

In January, Kodak was arrested by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and faced seven charges, including grand theft of a firearm, neglect of a child without great bodily harm, and two charges of probation violation or community control/felony. In April, the felony charges were dropped, but Black was sentenced to 364 days in jail for probation charges of driving with a suspended license and associating with people engaged in criminal activity. However, he was granted credit for time served.

Although he will be released soon, Kodak’s legal troubles aren’t entirely over. In a separate case, Kodak Black was indicted on sexual assault charges where he was accused of sexually attacking a woman in Florence County, South Carolina in 2016.

Mac Miller Reportedly Arrested For DUI

Mac Miller was reportedly arrested in the San Fernando Valley for a DUI and hit and run on Thursday (May 17). According to TMZ, the Pittsburgh rapper hit a power pole in his 2016 G-Wagon and fled the scene before cops arrived.

In the past, Miller has been open about his struggles with addiction and how it informed projects like 2014′s Faces. During a 2017 interview with W Magazine, Mac discussed his sobriety and the weight of being so open with it.

“I’ve spent a good time very sober and now I’m just, like, living regularly,” Mac said at the time. “I think it’s important. I don’t believe in absolute anything, but I think not sharing that type of information, because it becomes like, ‘Oh he’s sober, oh he’s not, oh he has a beer, oh my god.’”

Miller continued to describe how he’s become more reserved when talking about his struggles.

“I just realized some things are important to just keep for yourself,” he said. “That was a learning experience. But it was important to let everyone know that I wasn’t doing fucking crazy amounts of hard drugs. That was good to get out there.”

Miller’s bail is reportedly set at $ 15,000.

Logic And Jessica Andrea Have Reportedly Split After Two Years Of Marriage

Sad news for one of hip-hop’s favorite couples: Logic and wife Jessica Andrea have reportedly called it quits.

The rapper, 28, and social media star-turned-singer, 25, have decided to separate after two years of marriage, according to TMZ. Though the couple has not yet filed for divorce, a reconciliation “does not seem likely,” the outlet reported.

Just a few weeks ago, the married duo looked like the epitome of happiness while attending the Grammys, where Logic was nominated for Song of the Year for “1-800-273-8255.” It’s unclear when they called it quits, though fans noticed that Andrea unfollowed Logic on Instagram not too long ago, further fueling rumors of trouble between the two. Neither of them have commented on the reported split yet, but they’re both still following each other on Twitter.

Logic — who’s fresh off the release of his Bobby Tarantino II mixtape — and Andrea tied the knot in October 2015 after two years of dating. The Everybody rapper told MTV News shortly after their engagement, “I think it’s just something I’ve always wanted. I was just waiting for the right person. … I [proposed] in a photo booth. It was pretty epic. It’s just a spot that we both went to. It was real special to her. She took me there on one of our first dates. We went back again and when the photo booth counted down – 3, 2, 1 — I pulled out the ring and got it on film.”

Until we find out for sure what happened between these two, revisit the couple’s recent interview with MTV News correspondent Gaby Wilson on the Grammys red carpet.

Rick Ross Has Reportedly Been Hospitalized

UPDATE (3/2/18, 6:24 p.m. ET): Rick Ross is potentially on life support, reports TMZ. According to the site’s sources, a machine is ”taking over the function of his heart and lungs.”

On Thursday (March 1), Rick Ross was reportedly taken to the hospital after being found unresponsive in his Miami home, according to TMZ.

At this time, it is not officially confirmed why Ross might be hospitalized. TMZ also reports that “a family member strongly denied Rick was hospitalized.”

Ross has faced health complications in the past, like the two seizures he experienced in 2011. On a 2016 episode of The Dr. Oz Show, Ross discussed the experience, via Rap-Up.

“One day, I was on a flight and, I just remember my buddy coming to get me, like, ‘Get up, homie, you just had a seizure. Let’s go. We got to get off the plane,’” said Ross. “And I’m like, ‘No… I don’t feel like I had one.’ So I actually got on the phone, called my private jet guy, 45 minutes later, after getting off a commercial flight, I was aboard in a private plane. I boarded a private plane. An hour into the flight, soon as I fell asleep, I had another seizure.”

Since then, Ross has touted his healthy lifestyle. He lost 75 pounds after the seizures and proudly showed off his specific brand of CrossFit named RossFit. Last year, he told People how he kept his weight down.

“I’ve just really been eating a lot better, working out, staying RossFit, and still enjoying myself,” said Rozay. “I still eat my Wingstop, I still go to Checkers for a burger, but as a whole, the late-night steaks, and in the studio it was really easy for me to go crazy from 11 [p.m.] to 4 a.m. I just cut that out.”

People throughout the entertainment industry took to social media to share their support for Ross.

We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
