Agenda Report // Clear Weather’s Fall Forecast is Wavy with a Chance of Drip

Each season when canvassing the Agenda, Capsule and Liberty trade show floors, Clear Weather proves to be stepping their game up. They first made their name on the scene by merging moccasin and sneaker styling at an affordable price point, later shifting to sportier looks further left of the mainstream athleisure space.

The brand built off clean lines proves wavy once again as they head into the Fall/Winter ’18 season. Previewing shoes built for everything from skate to snow, both their sneakers and boots prove familiar while their pantones have progressed.

See what we’re talking about below.

Agenda Report // G-Star RAW Previews Fall 2018 Footwear Collection

Coming off their vastly impactful collaborative offering with multi-disciplinary, Pharrell Williams, which champions sustainability, individualism and cultural diversity, G-Star RAW looks ahead to fall with a new footwear offering that both teeters the line of past design expression and contemporary aesthetics guided by modernism and function.

Keeping with traditional cool weather silhouettes, a lightweight yet high-arching boot emerges as the most progressive model we sampled. An inner bootie serves as a seamless measure to get into the boot alongside ensuring increased comfort thanks to the neoprene fabrication. The shoe’s rich nubuck is finished in an alluring shade of navy, which is slightly offset by a smooth leather eyestay and corresponding heel tab. Construction of the boot’s midsole uniquely appears compartmentalized, lined around the toe and front foot while the quarter panel and heel is visibly more direct.

In a more foundational sneaker approach, G-Star RAW also revealed a budding low-cut style with great shaping and midsole curvature. Seen here in white – although there are black and grey options, too – paneled detailing adds depth to the upper while a padded ankle collar promotes comfort at the foot opening. Smartly, the lip of the outsole curves upwards at the heel, giving the silhouette greater distinction and profile.

Each of these styles – and several others of a similar volition – are set to release this August in line with the brand’s fall 2018 collection. Take a detailed look below and stay tuned for more from G-Star RAW and Nice Kicks at Agenda Long Beach.

Agenda Report // Trend Tracking at the Long Beach Tradeshow

words by Darren Griffin & Ian Stonebrook

As the new year begins, so does Tradeshow Season. Always serving as a platform for new product and new trends, the Agenda Show in Long Beach was no different as it provided a unique preview of what to expect both in stores, on streets and on feet in 2017.

Paying close attention to the shifts we saw both on attendees who were geared up as usual to the new shoes that you’ll see in stores later this year, get a quick rundown of the trends we see on the horizon thanks to our time at Agenda Long Beach.

Just as joggers put retro runners in play and sidelined high top hoop shoes, high cut and cuffed pants are paving the way for a wave of skate and tennis classics. While models like the NMD, Ultra Boost and Air Jordan 1 were expected favorites on the showroom floor, the change in pants also saw models like the Vans Old Skool, Converse One Star and Reebok Club C playing toward the punk movement that’s slowly washing away athleisure and grunge as the go-to garb.

All-Knit Everything

adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged LTD "White"

Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit "Bright Mango"

While the adidas NMD was the inline favorite that ruled the sneaker world in 2016, the adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged and Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit are the two shoes that brands un-associated with a Swoosh or Stripes are taking note of. Just like the resurgence of the Air Huarache saw neoprene styles debuting in any and every brand, knit sneakers are becoming the most common trend in athletic footwear with more playing towards the sock styling of the previously mentioned models.

Is Retro Dead?

adidas Stan Smith Boost

Appetite for nostalgia may have finally gotten to the point where it’s made everyone sick. Yes, retro sneakers will still live in the culture, and yes, there’s some cool surprises in store for this year, but in general it appears younger consumers are no longer interested in living in the past and brands are taking note. While running, tennis and workout silos that have long lasted in the market will remain, they will do so much more with modern construction like knit uppers and synthetic tape finishes. ‘Classic’ product seems to be gravitating more towards affordable skate shoes and tennis models your grandpa would’ve worn on Sundays as opposed to $ 200 bringbacks juiced by signature athletes.

Agenda Report // FILA Brings Back Classics & Updates Heritage Line for Fall/Winter 2016

FILA is approaching the fall/winter 2016 season with steady momentum prime to blow. Continuing to re-introduce brand staples while equally updating heritage models from the early 90’s, their upcoming offering aims to click on all cylinders of lifestyle, sporting and performance.

Agenda Report // adidas Skateboarding Keeps it Clean & Classic

words // Ian Stonebrook
photos // Nick DePaula

Boost and Busenitz have defined adidas as a brand and Skate as a category over the past few years. Debuting last year in tandem fashion at Agenda Long Beach, the hybrid update made waves, hitting at a high time for both the brand and the tech. As adidas Skateboarding rolls into 2016, they’re bringing a balanced attack of classic silo steeze with just a touch of tech.

Kicking off the classic campaign is a low key but high profile pull from the Originals sector: the adidas Stan Smith Vulc. While said silo had been busy on the deck in 2015, this fall will see the beloved White/Green palette play nice on the halfpipe.

Stan 3

In addition to the Stan, the beloved Busenitz continues to remain relevant in the suede, Samba-inspired color-ups that made it a hit amongst boarders and fly guys alike. A burgundy and white pair serves as a standout, with numerous colorways of the varsity variety. Boost is on the back burner for the styles we saw, but the makeups are still on the money.

Covering the tech side is the Dorado ADV Boost. While the bouncy technology continued to shift shape and span sports in 2015, this silo offers perhaps one of the most imaginative interpretations of the tech yet. Encapsulated in gum with only a sliver showing in the heel, it’s hard to tell if the properties of Boost are at full strength, but they’re definitely as protected and cleaned up as we’ve seen.
