Nice Kicks Presents // Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” Remix

Tomorrow will bring us the long and highly anticipated return of the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua”.  The Aqua 8s made their debut in February of 1993 when Michael Jordan stepped foot onto the court at the Delta Center for the 1993 NBA All-Star Game.  In the unforgettable game, Jordan put up 30 points in what would be his last All-Star Game appearance before his first retirement.  The game was filled with many highlights and fans on hand got their money’s worth when the game went to overtime where the West narrowly defeated the East.

While the first retro of the “Aqua” Jordan 8s came 14 years after initial debut in 2007, the wait this time was just 8 years.  While many would have probably liked to have the Aquas back sooner, the wait until 2015 means that Jordan-heads will be recipients of a Remastered Retro Jordan 8 in the coveted colorway.  For starters, the shape is much more true to the original than the 2007 retro.  More noticeably, the back panel of the shoe is a lighter grey than the 2007 release which was virtually black making the shoe just one tone on the upper panels.  Lastly, but with creating much conversation, the 2015 retro release of the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” feature a slightly sparkly midsole and outsole.  Many heads have been against this finish, but OG-heads are very appreciative of the original touch dating back to 1993.  Nostalgia!

As stated earlier, the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” will release on Black Friday, November 27, 2015 priced at $ 190.

Are the “Aqua” Jordan 8s a cop or drop for you?

LRG Presents: ’1947′ A Skateboarding Film

Together with Thrasher Magazine, LRG is set to release 1947, the brand’s second full-length skateboarding video. Featuring the likes of Tom Asta and Miles Silvas, the film includes a compilation of raw footage highlighting skate culture. The name of the film honors the late LRG co-founder Jonas Bevacqua and his family as Jonas frequently incorporated “47″ and “1947″ into his brand as a tribute to his mother, Helen. He was very vocal about the importance of his family and attributed the label’s success to their unconditional support. Since the brand’s inception, 1947 has come to be a symbol of Jonas’ family’s love as well as the dedication to something greater than one’s self. LRG is proud to still be a family-run operation today and the film stands as an accolade to the people behind its scenes. Check out the trailer to 1947 above and be on the lookout for its official release.

He then hops out and into the famous DB5, a car that remains just as elegant as it did some 50 years ago.

Kingpin Presents: The Scene – Berlin

Continuing on its survey of skate communities around the world, Kingpin Magazine has just launched the latest edition of its “The Scene” segment in Berlin. The clip, directed by European skate stalwart Mark Nickels, finds both locals and newly-relocated imports shredding the spots of the German capital city. Recognizable spots such as the long monument steps make an appearance, but the landscape of Berlin’s graffiti-covered streets seems to offer a spot at every turn. As such, Sylvain Tognelli, Michael Mackrodt, and more string together some nice technical lines in this edit. Enjoy the above.

Nike’s Roshe Run silhouette has been nothing sort of an immense success; having seem multiple iterations and collaborations in only a few seasons of the style’s existence. Sole Collector recently released a video unveiling the true inspiration behind the popular design. Designed by Dylan Raasch, the Roshe Run went through 16 different design editions before one was finally deemed as being perfect. The inspiration for the silhouettes came from a Roshi Zen Master (“Roshi was changed to “Roshe” for legal reasons). A fantastic video full of interesting facts, this is well worth a watch.

Video: Wieden + Kennedy Presents First Nike Commercials

Just want to buy a pair right now? Click Amazonor Ebay

Advertising firm Wieden + Kennedy has dug deep (very deep) into their archives to assemble a collection of three of the first national broadcast spots for a little footwear company called Nike. Revolutionary at the time, the commercials are almost comical in terms of the outdated ‘technology’ they tout as being key to Nike’s footwear. Still, you can’t knock them that much, since these commercials launched an athletic wear dynasty.
