North Carolina Suspends Football Players for Selling Team Issued Jordan PEs

13 players on the North Carolina football roster have been suspended for selling team-issued Air Jordan PEs, as ESPN reports. Suspensions range from one game to four games of the upcoming season.

“I am certainly upset by our players’ actions and how their choices reflect on them, our program and the University,” coach Larry Fedora said in a statement. “These young men knew the rules and are being held responsible for the poor choices they have made. Accountability is an important core principle in this program. We will learn from this and aim to do better in the future.”

The suspensions put the team’s quarterback competition into a new space entering the season and also amass multiple players who share the same position. Because of the latter, the NCAA approved a request to stagger the suspensions over the course of the season.

UNC self-reported the violation in January which is curious because that was the same month the team was gifted Air Jordan 3 PEs — a pretty quick timetable to receive shoes, sell them and have them self-reported. No information has been reported in regards to which exact shoes were sold.

photos & words // Ray P.:

Imagine being one of the top 100 High School Football players in the country having your dreams come true by being selected to play in the Army All-American game and the entire week leading up to the big Saturday was full of surprises from the hottest footwear brand of 2016. Yeah, talk about a feeling swaggy… ha!

As you know I’ve been in San Antonio working with the Army All-American Football players preparing for game day. From the outside looking in, it seems all business as these rising stars face off against each other on national TV before heading to College. However, the first rule of the game is to have fun and that’s exactly what adidas knows how to do. Each day after practice adidas invited the All-American players to a gifting suite for special surprises.

Instead of ruining the fun for you, browse ahead for an exclusive look into the experience as adidas offered the very best for the best athletes in the country:

Custom Varsity Jackets Commemorating All-American Status

There’s no doubt these boys play good, after all they are the top 100 in the country, but adidas made sure they looked good with a premium custom Varsity Jacket that wasn’t supposed to debut until 2018. Details include genuine leather sleeves, an extended seam with modern fit, and All-American detailing along the pockets. A one of a kind jacket for one of a kind players. Personalized dog tags finish off the gift package.

adidas NMD XR1 “ARMY”

Not only is this bowl game celebrating the young talent, but also the US Army. Offering their latest and greatest in the Primeknit and Boost combo, adidas rounded up an exclusive colorway of the NMD XR1 with special packaging. The shoes came inside personalized Army issued duffle bags which were given to the players immediately after practice was called.

adidas Harden Vol 1. “HOME”

adidas laced the young athletes with an early serving James Harden’s HOME colorway of his first signature sneaker which doesn’t debut until January 7th. Adding to the yet to be released shoes, adidas partnered with the San Antonio Spurs to gift them exclusive personalized NBA jerseys.

adidas Ultra Boost “TRIPLE BLACK”

Capping off an already incredible gifting experience, adidas saved the best for last as the most anticipated pair of Boosts of 2016 were served in elite fashion to the players. Triple Black Boosts were gone in an instant when released early December, so you can imagine the how the guys were left in awe when presented with their own pair accompanied by a custom dubre featuring their jersey number.

The US Army All-American Football game airs on January 7th at 1:00pm EST on NBC. Tune in as Nice Kicks will be present documenting views from the sidelines and behind the scenes.
