Nicki Minaj Speaks On Her ‘Mortifying And Humiliating’ Fight With Cardi B

“This is gonna be a legendary fucking show,” Nicki Minaj said at the jump of Queen Radio on Monday afternoon (September 10), before letting out an unbridled cackle.

And thus began the eighth — and most hotly anticipated — episode of Queen Radio, which came just days after Nicki got into a heated scuffle with Cardi B at a New York Fashion Week party. For those who weren’t following the drama over the weekend, here’s what you need to know:Tthe Harpers Bazaar ICONS bash on September 7 apparently ended with Cardi trying to fight Nicki and throwing a shoe at her. The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker promptly addressed the altercation on Instagram, claiming that Nicki made comments about Cardi’s baby, Kulture: “When you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are f*ckin off!!” she wrote.

Nicki, for her part, kept quiet about the incident… until Monday’s Queen Radio, that is.

“So let me just say this,” Nicki said on the episode. “The other night I was a part of something so mortifying and so humiliating to go through in front of a bunch of upper-echelon people. The way they passed by looking at this disgusting commotion, I will never forget. I was mortified.”

Responding to Cardi’s allegations that Nicki commented about Kulture, the Queen rapper said that she had “no clue” where the “horrendous accusations” came from. She insisted, “I would never discuss anyone’s child. And it’s so sad for someone to pin that on me because I’m the bad guy and they knew people would believe them. I just wanna let the world know that Onika Tanya Minaj has never and will never speak ill of anyone’s child. I am not a clown. That’s clown shit.”

Nicki further said of Cardi, “she has built her career off of sympathy and payola,” and went on to accuse her of having other women attacked because of their alleged relationships with her husband, Offset. Nicki said, “You just had the biggest blessing of your life with a child, and in two weeks you have attacked three women? One at fashion week? And left looking the way you left looking so that people could point their fingers at our culture and our community and laugh at us some more?”

She continued, “Get this woman some help! This woman is at the best stage in her career, and she’s out here throwing bottles and throwing shoes? Who the fuck is gonna give her a fucking intervention?”

All drama aside, however, Nicki insisted she’s in “such a good place, mentally and spiritually.” Moreover, she appears to be turning her attention back to her art, revealing on the show that the high-fashion “Barbie Dreams” video will be dropping today. Yet another treat for Barbz.

Nicki Minaj Has Turned Your Favorite Rappers Into Puppets In ‘Barbie Dreams’ Video

The summer of Nicki Minaj continues. Fresh off a contentious weekend with Cardi B — one that apparently culminated in Cardi throwing a shoe at her — Nicki took to her Queen Radio show yesterday to both address the incident and reveal that a video for “Barbie Dreams” was about to drop.

Then the “Barbie Dreams” video did drop. But who knew it would feature some of the biggest rappers of the 2000s rendered in puppet form?

It makes sense, in a way: Nicki spends the song deconstructing why everyone from Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, Drake, her own ex-fiancé Meek Mill, Quavo, Rae Sremmurd, and more either can or cannot get with her. (Spoiler: None can.) Weezy, DJ Khaled, Tekashi69, and more get turned into puppets as Nicki raps the song in a series of staggering wig and costume changes.

The “Barbie Dreams” clip was directed by storied auteur Hype Williams. Right when the beat changes for Nicki to deliver her fierce last verse, the puppets wisely all disappear, leaving the rapper alone at the center of her own creation.

This new video comes just a few days after Nicki popped up in the visual for the alternate version of K-pop group BTS’s “Idol,” rocking similarly colorful and striking hair choices.

If you’re keeping track at home, this one marks two puppet-centric rap videos in two weeks, if you count Kanye and Lil Pump’s surreal fantasy “I Love It” as an at least puppet-adjacent visual.

Check out “Barbie Dreams” above, and make sure you tune into the next episode of Queen Radio. They seem to just keep getting wilder.

Nicki Minaj Is A Selfie-Taking Neon Peacock In New BTS ‘Idol’ Video

Nicki Minaj is having a summer. She released her fourth album, Queen, in August amid some minor controversies, then took the stage triumphantly at the 2018 MTV VMAs, performing her headline-grabbing “Barbie Dreams.” Shortly after, Nicki popped up on an alternate version of the song “Idol” from global K-pop megastars BTS.

And now, she’s back with BTS in the psychedelic graffiti spray that is the new music video for “Idol.” Minaj surfaces about three minuted into the lavish clip, opulently peacocking in an incredible floral jacket and done up in neon green hair.

The whole visual is an absolute trip, and Nicki’s part only accounts for about 15 percent of it. The rest sees the BTS gang — Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — dancing in sumptuously colorful locales and robed in equally sumptuous outfits. At one point, one scene transitions into another by way of Jimin’s mouth, which becomes a trippy portal into a new realm. That new realm features explosions of color and lots of high kicks.

This video looks like it cost $ 6 million to make. And it kinda rules! (And who knows, maybe it did.)

BTS had a pretty incredible summer, too, releasing their new compilation Love Yourself: Answer in late August. It became their second album to top the Billboard 200 chart, after this year’s earlier Love Yourself: Tear. North American fans are rightfully amped about the South Korean group’s upcoming shows in the U.S., which kicked off last night at Los Angeles’s Staples Center.

With world-expanding, endlessly stimulating videos like this — and life-affirming lyrics that preach self-acceptance — it only makes sense. Check out the otherworldly visual above.

Nicki Minaj On Kylie Jenner Apparently Avoiding Her At The VMAs: ‘I Fucking Love Kylie’

Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, and Kylie Jenner are the best Mad Libs pairing of celebrities in recent memory. During episode five of her Queen Radio show, Minaj cleared the air about Kylie after a video of the mogul reportedly avoiding her on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet surfaced.

“I fucking love Kylie and that’s not going to change,” Minaj said. “This is not real life, this is entertainment. I love Kylie and so do my fans. Kim was on my first episode of Queen Radio — fucking love her. We’re not going to make something that it’s not. We’re not going to start any dumbass cat fights for your entertainment. This is strictly music, between musicians.”

Kylie potentially avoided Nicki Minaj at the VMAs because of tweets the Queens rapper posted a day before the awards ceremony. On Twitter, Nicki detailed why she felt she deserved the No. 1 album over Travis Scott’s Astroworld, after it secured the top spot on the Billboard 200.

“Travis sold over 50K of these,” Nicki wrote. “With no requirement of redeeming the album! With no dates for a tour, etc. I spoke to him. He knows he doesn’t have the #1 album this week.”

In a second tweet, Minaj doubled down on her assessment that Travis didn’t truly have the top album in the country.

“I put my blood sweat & tears in writing a dope album only for Travis Scott to have Kylie Jenner post a tour pass telling ppl to come see her & Stormi,” she continued. “I’m actually laughing. #Queen broke the record of being number 1 in 86 countries. Thank Jesus & thank you to my fans.”

Thankfully, it seems like the competitive spirit only pertains to the music. Listen to the entire episode on Apple Music.

Nicki Minaj Let Us Know ‘Normani Is That Bitch’ During VMA Speech

Nicki Minaj’s acceptance speech for the Best Hip Hop Moon Person at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards was full of fiery, iconic, and spicy moments — but before the first televised win of the night was announced, Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart let their unique brand of comedy fly at the expense of Fifth Harmony.

“She’s nominated for five VMAs tonight, five of them,” Haddish said of Camila Cabello. “I’m super proud of her. So those of you watching at home, hi, Fifth Harmony.”

After Ariana Grande helped her bestie up to the stage, the Queen rapper decided to set the record straight and come to Normani’s defense. ”Tiff, don’t be coming for Fifth Harmony, because Normani is that bitch,” Nicki warned the Night School lead.

The competition for Best Hip Hop at the VMAs was fierce — Nicki beat out Cardi B’s “Bartier Cardi” featuring 21 Savage, The Carters’ “APES**T,” Drake’s “God’s Plan,” J. Cole’s “ATM,” and Migos’s “Walk It Talk It” featuring Drake — but that didn’t seem to phase the queen. She also made sure to let the audience know that they should “tune in for Queen radio so you can know who the Cocksucker of the Day award is going to.”

It’s safe to say that Nicki had a lot of confidence to spare at this year’s show.

Nicki Minaj Divulges A Very NSFW Bar For Stephen Colbert — And He Was Not Ready

Stephen Colbert invited Nicki Minaj to The Late Show and the results are legendary. During their sit down, Colbert asked the Queen rapper about her viral sensation “Barbie Dreams” and dropping satirical lines about artists like Drake and Quavo wanting to get with her. However, when the late-night host asked why his name wasn’t mentioned, the show adorably went off the rails.

“I might fuck Stephen after the show / He gon’ come back to work with a magical glow,” Nicki rapped back in response. Stephen was predictably caught off guard and couldn’t stop laughing. At one point, Nicki had to ask the blushing comedian if he was married. She then followed up her previous bars by rapping, “But when you see us please don’t fucking stare / Just address me as Queen Nicki Colbert.”

Later in the talk, she shared that only two rappers seemed to have a problem with their mention in “Barbie Dreams.” Although, she didn’t reveal the names of the rappers.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Nicki’s engineer Aubry “Big Juice” Delaine shared that the Biggie interpolating song was created primarily in one take.

“She told me to load up that beat, put it on loop, and give her about 20 or 30 minutes,” Delaine explained. “Then she goes in the booth and lays that shit down, and that’s what you got. I didn’t know what she was gonna say. I wanna say she did 90 percent of that in one take. She mumbled the hook when she was laying the verses, laid the rest of it, went back and put the hook in the middle. When I heard it — ‘this is incredible.’”

Make sure to catch Nicki when she performs at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Wonder if any of the guys she name dropped on “Barbie Dreams” will be there.

Nicki Minaj Says Meek Mill Is Still In The DMs On ‘Barbie Dreams’

Nicki Minaj’s Queen is finally here, and the album’s third song, “Barbie Dreams,” is a doozy.

The scathing track samples and interpolates 1994′s ”Just Playing (Dreams)” by The Notorious B.I.G., which infamously saw Biggie going after numerous actresses and singers. The content of the song was wildly misogynistic 24 years ago, and it still is in 2018 — which makes Nicki’s remake all the more welcome. Biggie’s hook, “Dreams of fucking an R&B bitch,” is replaced with Nicki’s, ”Dreams of fucking with any these little rappers.”

Meek Mill, Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, catches the song’s most significant swipe. In the first verse, she spits, “Meek still be in my DMs, I be having to duck him / I used to pray for times like this / Face ass when I fuck him.”

Nicki and Meek haven’t seen eye to eye in quite a while. In a May interview on “The Breakfast Club,” Mill opened up about how he felt when the Queen rapper commented on his incarceration.

“I wasn’t feeling that,” Mill said. “She shouldn’t have said nothing. And we leave it at that. I don’t feel no way. She know I wasn’t feeling that.”

The Philadelphia MC isn’t the only rapper Nicki mentions in the new song. Another high-profile lyric is about her YMCMB labelmate, Drake. “Drake worth a hundred milli, always buying me shit / But I don’t know, the pussy wet or if he crying and shit,” Nicki declares. She also claims that she caught Young Thug in her dressing room, “stealing dresses and shit,” and jokingly admits Karruenche thinks, “I’m tryna give the coochie to Quavo.”

Nicki Minaj Will Reign Over The 2018 VMAs With A Queenly Performance

Bow down, Barbz. Just days after dropping her long-awaited fourth album, Queen, Nicki Minaj will hit the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards for a special remote performance, presented by PEPSI, that’s sure to be epic.

How do we know? Because Nicki’s given us precisely that no fewer than six times this decade. The rapper made her VMA debut in 2010, performing on the pre-show red carpet, and she’s since hit the main stage five times, busting out “Anaconda” in 2014 and “Trini Dem Girls” in 2015, just to name a couple.

Minaj’s two most recent VMA performances have seen her sharing the stage — she joined Ariana Grande for “Side to Side” in 2016 and Katy Perry for “Swish Swish” last year — but this time, the queen is ridin’ solo. Or, who knows, maybe she’ll have a surprise up her sleeve. It’s the VMAs, so anything could happen!

Not only is Minaj performing at the August 20 bash — from a secret, iconic location in New York — but she’s also looking to take home her fourth Moon Person. The Queen MC’s futuristic “Chun-Li” is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video.

Minaj joins a star-studded roster of artists performing at the 2018 VMAs, including Travis Scott, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Logic with Ryan Tedder, and this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard recipient, Jennifer Lopez. And we’re not even done rolling out the announcements…

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Voting is now open at vma.mtv.com!

Nicki Minaj And Ariana Grande’s ‘Bed’ Might Make Pete Davidson Blush

Young Money artists must really adore their beds. First, Drake told us he only loves his bed and his momma, and now, Nicki Minaj’s “Bed,” featuring Ariana Grande, tells the tale of “thousand dollar sheets” and “strawberry lingerie.” Who can blame the YMCMB crew for loving their naps?

“Bed” is unique in that it finds Minaj going into her pop bag for the first time this Queen album cycle. Seductive, sultry, and sweet, “Bed” is a melodic affair with Nicki and Ari sharing singing duties on the hook. One of the more revealing moments of the song comes during the third verse, when Nicki references an upcoming collaboration with ZAYN, rapping, “He go insane on it, I put my fame on it / Coulda put ZAYN on it, but I put your name on it.” The Queens rapper has been teasing the collab for a while, and ZAYN has even confirmed that the song exists. Here’s hoping they drop it soon.

Another interesting twist is that “Bed” comes a day after Minaj’s ELLE cover story, in which she discusses her role as a sex symbol and how it affects her fans.

“In a lot of ways, I don’t know if I’m doing the same thing they’re doing, because I’m selling sex appeal,” Minaj said. “So I can’t look down on these girls. I may not be having sex with people, but I’m still selling sex appeal.”

She continued, “I just don’t know if girls who look up to me think that when I’m posting a sexy picture. I’m actually the antithesis of all of that. I’m more of, like, the snobby girl, like the ‘Uh, what’ type of girl. And I want girls to be like that.”

Even more exciting, Minaj and Grande have apparently already shot a video for “Bed” that should be arriving soon. Check out a teaser for the poolside visual below.

Nicki Minaj Gets Candid About What Being Single Meant For Her New Album

One can learn many things from a breakup, like the joys of sending reckless DMs or eating alone at a restaurant as you sneer at everyone condescendingly judging you. For Nicki Minaj , she learned that single life can actually be super inspirational. In her latest cover story for Elle, Minaj discussed what it was like being single for the “first time in my life” and how that affected her upcoming album.

“I went through a moment where I got to know myself again, and then I went through a moment where I got to know myself as the rapper again,” Minaj said. “And then I locked [myself] in the studio” — see? — and I didn’t want to leave. Spiritually, I’ve experienced more growth in the last six months of my life, of my career, than I have in the last eight years.”

In the past, Minaj has been linked to Safaree Samuels, Meek Mill, and, most recently, Nas. The two New York rappers reportedly split in late 2017, according to TMZ.

Elsewhere in the interview, the “Chun-Li” rapper described the challenges of being in relationships and how she got through the transition of being on her own again.

“I remember feeling like I could do anything at one time in my life and somewhere along the line, I just started second guessing myself, for whatever reason,” she said. “As soon as I realized that I could actually live and breathe, and eat and sleep, and walk and talk without having a boyfriend, something clicked in me.”

Minaj’s latest song, “Rich Sex,” is about why one shouldn’t have intercourse with brokies and fits nicely into the discussion she had during her cover story. Hopefully, when Queen arrives on August 10, fans will get a more complete look at Nicki’s thoughts about relationships, breakups, and everything in between.
