Mache Honors Randy Moss on Air Jordan 11 Low Custom

If you’re too young to remember Randy Moss playing for the Vikings please exit this post immediately and head to YouTube.

Still here? Good. Our guy Mache recently paid tribute to #84 with custom cleats for current Minnesota machine Stefon Diggs. What might be even better? The Air Jordan 11 Low Customs he did for Randy himself. Scoring some helped from @engravedforces, this polished pair places purple on the patent leather mudguard with gold laser detailing telling the story of the Super Freak.

Check ’em out below.

Don’t think with it being his big day that I wouldn’t get to make a pair for the ? @randygmoss for today. As a @vikings fan I was more than honored and humbled to get that call to make these. Shouts to @engravedforces for banging out the laser work. #skol #straightcashHomie #vikings @jumpman23 #custom #brKicks #angelusdirect #complexkicks @espnnfl

Inside the Nike OFF-CAMPUS “FLIGHT” & Air Jordan 1 Panel with Spike Lee, Don C, & Aleali May

words by: Ray P.
photos by: Jordan Keyser

For the first time ever on one stage, the past, present and future of the Air Jordan legacy gathered at Nike OFF-CAMPUS in NYC to discuss the culture around “Flight.” Designer of the Ten Icons collection, Virgil Abloh, moderated the panel led by Spike Lee, Don C, and Aleali May.

Spike Lee, who as the character Mars Blackmon and Director of Do The Right Thing is arguably responsible for helping Air Jordans explode off-court and into culture, shared a special moment when he officially became part of the Michael Jordan story. Coming off of directing the film “She’s Gotta Have It” where the fictional character Mars Blackmon debuted, Spike was tapped by Nike to star in a commercial with Jordan. At the time, Michael hadn’t seen the movie and definitely didn’t know who Spike Lee was. The vibrant outspoken Director told  the Nike OFF-CAMPUS crowd that Michael spotted him wearing Jordans casually and the GOAT admitted that’s what won him over. What was supposed to be two commercials, blossomed into a wonderful friendship and partnership that continues to flourish today.

Don C, Chicago native Air Jordan 2 collaborator and someone who Virgil prefaced as the street almanac for all things Michael Jordan, got on the mic to explain the cultural impact of the man and his sneakers. The first to hoop in gold chains, the first to switch to low socks and the first to get his sneakers banned for being different, these are all things that we now consider part of culture. As Don C adamantly explained, Michael Jordan invented the culture.

Aleali May, the Fashionista and youngest on the panel, admitted she was born in 1992, but loves 1985 Air Jordan 1’s. Being too young to grasp the golden years of Michael Jordan’s career, her love for the signature line was invigorated by how the sneakers were worn in the street, the collaborations, and how each generation interprets the style of Air Jordan.

This panel showed the evolution of the Jordan brand and perhaps a look at the future where creatives and fashionistas push the iconic linage for 10 more years rather than any athlete.

Grab an exclusive inside look below at the Nike OFF-CAMPUS “FLIGHT” & Air Jordan 1 Panel with Spike Lee, Don C, & Aleali May.

Jordan Brand Supports Black Lives Matter Movement with Air Jordan 1

Earlier today Jordan Brand’s Frank Cooker debuted a new Air Jordan 1 both powerful in its message and harmonious in its timing.

His Air Jordan 1 “Black Lives Matter” could very well be a custom or sample never meant to see the light of day at retail. Yet whatever they are, the black-on-black colorway sends a powerful message of unity and inclusion in a time that we need it most.

This, however, isn’t the first time Jordan Brand has created with inspiration by African-American culture. Their annual Black History Month collection is an ode to equal rights and equality. Given a potential release of this BLM Air Jordan 1, Jordan Brand would easily be the most woke sportswear company in the biz.

No release details for this Air Jordan 1 are known. Stay tuned as we hope to have more information soon.

Drake Unveils “Snakeskin” Air Jordan 11 Mid PEs

In a silent video, the man behind OVO Sound made a lot of noise moments ago by debuting the Air Jordan 11 Mid in two never before seen “Snakeskin” iterations. Sporting scaly mudguards of the pink and grey variety, both white based mid tops carry Jumpman branding of the matching variety. What’s a little odd is they both feature #45 heel tagging — a nod to MJ’s short lived run in the 11s during the 1995 NBA Playoffs. However, if you dig way back you may recall that Drizzy had “Concord” 11s with the same heel stamping before his JB deal was official. Who knows.

In addition to said Air Jordan 11s, Drake also previewed an alternate version of the “Tokyo23” Air Jordan 5 with a swapped out midsole. The man that just put on OVO Fest said on More Life that we wouldn’t get the next album until 2018, maybe he’s up to something else…
