It’s Official: Lil Wayne Is Finally Releasing Tha Carter V This Week

I can’t believe I’m saying it, but Tha Carter V is almost here. For real this time.

Lil Wayne himself has announced that, after years of anticipation and leaks, the mythologized album will finally see the light of day on Thursday (September 27), his 36th birthday. The impending release comes seven years after Carter IV and follows a half-decade of agonizing delays and intense legal battles.

Wayne shared the news in a video posted to YouTube on Tuesday, thanking the loyal legions of fans who have stuck with him over the years. “Y’all hung in there with me, so I can’t do nothing but thank y’all for all the love and all the passion,” he said. “I always give y’all all of me, but with this album, I’m giving you more than me. This is four, five, six years of work that you’ll be listening to. I hope you enjoy it.”

For those that need a primer, Tha Carter V — the fifth edition of a series that dates back to 2004 — has been in the works since at least 2013, when Weezy first said it would be released. But the album was held in limbo for years as legal battles were waged between Wayne and Cash Money Records founder, Birdman. Their disputes were resolved in court earlier this year, and last month, Birdman joined Wayne onstage at Lil Weezyana Festival to publicly apologize to the rapper, ultimately clearing the way for Tha Carter V‘s release.

To help ramp up the excitement, Wayne has installed a countdown clock on his website, which is slowly but surely ticking its way to zero. Just hang in there a little longer, folks.

And in the meantime, please enjoy this now-iconic Wayne moment, in GIF form:

BROCKHAMPTON Have Another Title For Their Upcoming Album And It’s Illuminating

BROCKHAMPTON is back with a new album title and a sort-of release date for their follow-up to SATURATION III. On Sunday (August 26), the group posted a photo that read, “BROCKHAMPTON’s 4th studio album will be released this September,” with the album’s title Iridescence beneath the succinct sentence.

The group’s latest project has gone through a variety of changes after member Ameer Vann was accused of sexual misconduct in early May and subsequently kicked out. Previous titles for the record included Puppy, Team Effort, and The Best Years of Our Lives. Kevin Abstract thanked fans on Twitter for their patience and described how recording their next album in a new country helped his creative process.

“Brand new music brand new feelings iridescence,” Abstract wrote. “Not tryna lead anyone on or anything I just want us to keep making stuff we’re proud of and put it out when we’re ready. I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say thank you for your patience…I don’t know if I would have been able to write another record if we didn’t come to Europe – thanks for all the positive love man it was surreal this year has been one long ass dream.”

In a July interview with Billboard, Abstract briefly explained the controversial handling of Vann’s exit.

“We got off social media so we could finish working on the album and during that same month that’s when the allegations came up,” Abstract said. “We were really slow to respond to them. I just felt terrible that the fans couldn’t reach us for answers.”

Iridescence will be the boy band’s first album in the wake of their turbulent year. Although, listening to their latest releases — “1999 WILDFIRE,” “1998 TRUMAN,” and “1997 DIANA” — it seems like they’re committed to moving forward.

Kanye West Reveals The Meaning Of ‘I Hate Being Bi-Polar, It’s Awesome’

Jimmy Kimmel brings out Kanye West’s most viral moments. The two have gone from Twitter spats filled with Spongebob memes to friendly appearances on-air. Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (August 9), was no different. The late-night host briefly left the Chicago artist speechless after asking, “You so famously and so powerfully said George Bush doesn’t care about black people. It makes me wonder what makes you think that Donald Trump does, or any people at all?”

Surprisingly, the interview got more interesting when Kanye candidly described the meaning behind the phrase “I hate being bi-polar, it’s awesome,” which is written across the cover of his latest album, ye.

“It’s not an opposite. It’s not ‘I hate being bi-polar, it’s awesome,’ West explained. “It drives more of how you really feel. Doesn’t do a opposite thing. I think it’s important for us to have open conversations about mental health, especially with me being black, because we never had therapists in the black community. We never approach like taking medication or not. I think it’s good that when I had my first complete blackout at age five, my mom didn’t fully medicate me, because I might have never been Ye in this Times Square [building].”

Kanye also shared that his controversial statements on TMZ about 400 years of slavery seeming like “a choice,” was the result of being “ramped up” do to his bipolar disorder.

“At least, I’m happy that I know,” he continued. “Like even for this interview I knew I wanted to stay in a calm state, because by the time I got to TMZ I was ramped up. So what was awesome is that the world got to really experience someone in a ramped up state and that’s when you get these comments that just shoot out…They’re some cases of bi-polar where people go low. I’m one that goes high.”

Kanye also discussed producing five G.O.O.D. Music albums this summer and his favorite type of porn.

Kanye West’s New Song ‘Lift Yourself’ Is Here, And It’s Mostly About Poop

Kanye West has made his musical return, and there’s no way it sounds like anything you might’ve predicted. Unless, that is, you guessed that his first new song since 2016 would be about poop.

On Friday night (April 27), the Chicago rapper — who’s been causing drama all week with his divisive, Trump-supporting tweets — tweeted the link to his website, which now auto-plays a song called “Lift Yourself.” The majority of the track features a chorus of soulful voices singing, “Lift yourself up on your feet, let’s get it on.” Almost two minutes in, ‘Ye speaks over the track, saying, “They don’t realize though, this next verse, this next verse though, these bars, watch this.” He then launches into a “verse” in which he mostly raps a variation of, “whoopdedy-scoop, whoopdedy-whoop-scoop-poop,” followed by an abrupt end. You just can’t make this shit up.

Hours before the song’s release on Friday, West teased “Lift Yourself” by tweeting, “I’m going to drop a song with a verse that will bring Ebro the closure he’s been seeking.” Ebro, of course, is the radio host Kanye’s been semi-feuding with all week. He also added, “the bars,” with a ton of fire emojis to really drive his point home.

Head to kanyewest.com to hear the song in full, and look out for more new music soon. The rapper recently announced that he has a new solo album arriving on June 1, followed by a collaborative project with Kid Cudi on June 8. Let’s hope he gives us some fresh bars that aren’t just about poop.
