Kim Kardashian Reveals Kanye’s New Yandhi Release Date: ‘It Is Worth The Wait’

Among the many wild headlines that Kanye West managed to generate over the weekend — ones about MAGA hats and boxy costumes, for example — there were none about the release of his ninth studio album, Yandhi. That’s because, as you probably noticed, the project never materialized, despite Ye announcing last week that it would drop the night of his appearance on Saturday Night Live.

Ever the efficient wife/spokesperson, Kim Kardashian West set the record straight on Monday afternoon (October 1) by revealing the album’s new release date: November 23, a.k.a. Black Friday. “TRUST ME it is worth the wait,” she tweeted, followed by a string of fervent emojis.

Kanye later confirmed the date in an interview with TMZ on Monday, during which he also revealed his plan to finish recording the album in Africa. Describing Yandhi, Kanye said, “I started incorporating sounds that you never heard before and pushing and having concepts that people don’t talk about. … It’s just a full Ye album and those five albums I dropped earlier were like superhero rehabilitation and now the alien Ye is fully back in mode.”

The Chicago MC first teased Yandhi last month with a Yeezus-esque piece of artwork. On September 27, he tweeted, “We’re releasing Yandhi Saturday night,” adding, “We know it will come in number 2 to my brother Lil Wayne and that’s lovely. … The universe needs Ye and Wayne music at the same time.”

This will be Kanye’s third album this year, following the solo Ye and his collaboration with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts. Besides those projects, he also produced records for Nas, Pusha T, and Teyana Taylor. It’s clearly been a productive year for Kanye, but given his pro-Trump agenda and mounting backlash, maybe it’s good that Yandhi is being pushed to a time when we can all listen while simultaneously stress-eating leftover turkey and pie.

Watch Kanye West And Lil Pump Basically Become Lego People In ‘I Love It’ Video

It’s been a big week for Kanye West. After tweeting an apology to Drake for letting their relationship sour, he served as the creative director for the inaugural Pornhub Awards Thursday night (September 6).

In this role, ‘Ye apparently assisted with the particular design of the trophies for the ceremony, and NSFW merch bearing the likenesses of night’s winners is currently available for purchase at the Yeezy online store. But Kanye didn’t stop there; he also dropped a brand-new song with Lil Pump called “I Love It,” the video for which is an absolute trip.

The song itself only spans about two minutes, but the accompanying visual (directed by Kanye and Amanda Adelson) squeezes every moment of lunacy from those 130 seconds. It doesn’t amount to much more than Kanye and Pump warped and shrunk into what might be best described as Lego block people, waddling along and delivering the song’s hook: “You’re such a fucking ho / I love it.” But that’s plenty.

Kanye and Pump rock comically overlarge footwear; Kaney’s is an exaggerated version of the sandals he was ridiculed for wearing to 2 Chainz’s wedding in late August. Comedian Adele Givens gets a featured credit here, too, for a bit of her standup that bookends the song.

It’s notable that apart from a verse that’s mostly Kanye repeating, “I’m a sick fuck, I like a quick fuck,” his contributions to the song come from winking ad-libs, including one particularly knowing “scoop!” halfway through the song. Colin Kaepernick is the Face of Nike’s 30th Anniversary “Just Do It” Campaign, Signature Collection Also in the Works

Colin Kaepernick, social activist, and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is the face of Nike’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign.

A Nike endorser since 2011, Kaepernick broke the news today on Twitter by revealing the first advertisement from the upcoming campaign. A biting, visceral image, shows Colin’s face in intimate detail. Centered into a noir backdrop overlaying the intricacies of his skin, the words “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything” speak in a deafening and cunning tone.

The ad, of course, leans generously into the outcome of Kaepernick’s social injustice protest and subsequent removal from the NFL. Kaepernick famously sat during the national anthem in August 2016 and kneeled during America’s song in weeks thereafter. Other NFL players quickly and forcefully followed his lead.

In the two years since Colin’s initial peaceful protest, it’s largely believed he has been “blackballed” from the league. Kaepernick, in turn, filed a collusion grievance against the NFL in October, stating they organized an effort to keep him out of the league based on his social and political beliefs.

Nike’s restored commitment to Kaepernick seemingly works in contrast with one of their biggest business partners — the National Football League. Renewing its deal as the league’s official apparel provider back in March — an agreement that will continue through 2028 — Nike realigning with Kaep appears grossly in opposition given his very public court battle with the NFL. Yet, he’s the face of a hugely important campaign for Nike, one that will also feature LeBron James, Serena Williams, Odell Beckham Jr., Lacey Baker, and Shaquem Griffin.

Although Kaepernick has been on the Nike roster for seven years now, he’s been visibly absent from brand advertisements for the last two. Nike seemed at a loss for what do to with Kaepernick during said period. However, as ESPN’s Darren Rovell points out, “Nike has been paying Colin Kaepernick all along.”

His presence in the budding “Just Do It” campaign represents newness for both parties, as Kaepernick’s representatives — Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas — reportedly worked to restructure his deal in recent months. As stated by Charles Robinson, a senior NFL reporter from Yahoo Sports, Kaep’s new deal with Nike will be on par with other top-tier football players. His “star” contract is reported to pay him in the millions of dollars per year. In addition, Colin will have his own branded collection that will include sneakers, jerseys, and shirts. It’s also worth noting that “star” contracts in the past have included a clause for royalties.

While Nike should be applauded for championing Kaepernick with an extended contract and newly heightened brand visibility, interest from other sportswear brands may have thrust them into motion. Back in April, Adidas publicly stated that they had an interest in signing Colin if he played for an NFL team in the upcoming season which kicks off later this week. However, given the climate of Kaepernick’s legal battle with the league, it’s off base to assume that Adidas had any real assurance that Kaepernick would suit up in the NFL this season.

It’s actually a foregone conclusion that Kaepernick won’t play in the NFL this season. And, if you’re keeping pace, evident that he won’t play in the NFL at any point in the future. So how does Nike promote a football player who’s no longer a professional football player? That’s simple; Colin Kaepernick was never just a football player to begin with. The same way Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Serena Williams, and countless others aren’t just athletes. They are all so much more. That’s always been the driving force.

Cardi B’s ‘I Like It’ Video Features Shaved Ice And Bad Bunny Dance Moves

Can Cardi B have the song of the summer two years in a row? If “Bodak Yellow” is the reigning champ of 2017, then the release of the music video for “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin is making a claim for 2018.

The Eif Rivera-directed visual is like a Santana video married an early 2000s Sean Paul video and they stopped at a resort manned by Snoop Dogg and Pharrell’s “Beautiful.” In short, “I Like It” is fun in the way any video with random shaved iced, Cardi B rapping about eating Halal, and Bad Bunny dancing like this is his last day on Earth could be. In an interview with Billboard, Bad Bunny described how the track came together.

“I remember I got a call and they told me that they wanted me to participate in Cardi B’s album,” Bunny said. “They told me the track was a surprise, even for her. The producers were working on it. She didn’t know that track was being made…I loved the track from the beginning.”

Cardi B is in the process of one last marketing push for her album Invasion of Privacy before she goes on a brief maternity leave. Last week, she proved once again that she is the ”Trap Selena” on Jennifer Lopez’s “Dinero” and dropped the Kill Bill-inspired video for “Be Careful.” It is safe to say Cardi is leaving fans with enough musical gifts until her triumphant return on tour with Bruno Mars this fall.

Juicy J On The Rebirth Of ‘Who Run It’: ‘Three 6 Mafia’s Music Will Never Die’

Juicy J is humble. He has ample reason to brag, but still, he’s humble. In 2018, the Billboard charts and radio are filled with interpolations of, samples of, and homages to Three 6 Mafia, the Memphis group he helped found in 1991.

G-Eazy, A$ AP Ferg, and Future all lifted lyrics from Juicy’s “Slob On My Knob” to chart-topping success. Rae Sremmurd’s “Powerglide” features a sample of “Side To Side.” G Herbo, with the expert timing of DJ Bay Bay, introduced the “Who Run It” beat to a new generation. Now A$ AP Rocky, 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, Trippie Redd, and CupcakKe are updating the 1999 classic.

Somehow, Juicy knows all of this and stills comes off modest. Over the phone, his words tumble out with the same ferocity as his bars, but his energetic disbelief juxtaposes the delivery. In a conversation that most will read and never hear, he still comes with the same exuberance of a radio show. He plugs new artists like Hendry AZ, gets excited to describe how he’s executive producing a new $ uicideboy$ album, and shares that his new production for Project Pat sounds like ’90s Juicy.

On Monday (April 9), Juicy updated “Who Run It” with a new freestyle, which is hilarious considering two things. First, the Delfonics-sampling track still sounds so current that it doesn’t need a facelift. Second, the Juicy of 2018 sounds as fresh as the Juicy of 1999.

In an interview with MTV News, Juicy discusses the reception of “Who Run It,” its iconic music video, and how it feels to know that Three 6 Mafia is arguably more relevant in 2018 than they were in 1999.

MTV News: How has it felt to see the reception to “Who Run It” almost 19 years later?

Juicy J: Man, it’s amazing. I always figured that the music would be bigger than what we thought when we was doing it back in the day, cause it was so different. Our style is different. Our sound of music is different. The way we make beats is different. And I always just felt that it would impact sometime. Back in the day, we was underground music. It was only a certain amount of people heard it. A lot of the songs that people are discovering now, nobody had never heard of those songs.

I always felt like the music was bigger than what we was making. We making the music, but I felt like it was going to be something bigger than what we thought. And here it is. Now 20 years later you see everything reocurring, “Slob On My Knob,” “Chickenhead,” “Who Run It,” “Late Nite Tip.”

MTV News: Did you guys envision that type of longevity?

Juicy: It’s such a blessing. Coming from a little underground group from Memphis, Tennessee and then winning an Academy Award, selling millions of records, performing at the Academy Awards, we won an American Music Award, I mean, like, an MTV Award. It’s such a blessing. It’s just incredible. The music is classic.

MTV News: Have you seen G Herbo’s original freestyle that started this whole new wave?

Juicy: I saw it. Shouts out to G Herbo. Shouts out to Hollyhood Bay Bay. That’s my dawg. That’s the DJ that pulled the beat up. He pulled the beat up and Herb just killed it. Shout out Trippie Redd and Lil Yachty, A$ AP Rocky, you know, everybody that’s paying homage. I seen that flow. I was like, wow.

MTV News: So far who do you feel has done the beat justice?

Juicy: Man, I think everyone did their thing. Everybody has their own style. The way they do their music. I enjoyed them all.

It just feels good to see these youngins pull that instrumental up and just rip it like that. That’s a good feeling, man, that this music is timeless. It’s classic. Three 6 Mafia’s music will never die.

MTV News: Do you remember what is was like making that song back then?

Juicy: Man, when we made our songs, we used to get high and go into the studio and just turn up. [laughs] You know what I’m saying. I remember the video and everything too. Man, we was just crunk, drunk. You know what I’m saying? High as hell. High as hell in the studio. High as hell in the video.

MTV News: That video was iconic. What do you remember about that day?

Juicy: Man, I remember we was hanging out the car. I thought I was gonna fall off the car and shit. The way we was sitting on that car. It was a truck, riding down the street in this truck, and we was doing this action scene. I thought we was going to fall of that motherfucker, man.

That was a crazy video and it was all underground. All this stuff was underground, you know? We made amazing music that was straight underground. We didn’t get much radio play back in the day. We didn’t get a lot of radio play. Nothing like that. Just to see the impact on it now is just amazing.

Migos And Drake Prove The Soul Train Line Is Forever In ‘Walk It Talk It’ Video

Migos are becoming the undisputed kings of hip-hop music videos. Between the kung fu movie-inspired “Stir Fry” and Offset and Ric Flair’s opulent masterpiece “Ric Flair Drip,” the Atlanta trio is proving they are a cinematic force to be reckoned with in 2018. Yesterday (March 18), Migos decided to pay homage to the 1970s with the visual for “Walk It Talk It” featuring Drake.

The Daps and Quavo-directed music video honors the legendary television show Soul Train. Between the expertly crafted afros, Drake’s dripping Jheri curl, and the famous Soul Train line, “Walk It Talk It” is proof that ’70s style never dies. Fans are even treated to Offset’s rare pop lockin’ moves.

Migos has a history of hilarious music videos. In a recent MTV News interview, director Sing J. Lee touched upon how funny Migos were on set for the “Stir Fry” video.

“When we were doing take after take … the whole set was cracking up,” said Lee. “Me and the label were discussing that actually — you know what, we probably have some really funny moments, amazing moments, and we should definitely use them and roll them at the end like the Rush Hour bloopers or the Jackie Chan movies.”

So far this year, Migos have become martial arts masters, wrestling demigods, and disco superstars. Hopefully, the next frontier for Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff has something to do with cowboys or aliens or taking down the mad titan Thanos. Marvel, give Migos a call.
