Kyrie Irving Unveils Alternative Nike Kyrie 3 “Bruce Lee” for Mamba Day

Kyrie Irving may be out for the remainder of his debut season with the Boston Celtics after having surgery on his knee, yet production hasn’t slowed on his signature sneaker collection with Nike. Looking back to last year’s Nike Kyrie 3, one of the standout colorways was an ode to Kobe Bryant and his love for Bruce Lee.

The sneaker was dubbed the “Mamba Mentality” Kyrie 3 and it directly took from Bryant’s Nike Zoom Kobe V “Bruce Lee.” Largely finished in yellow with red secondary coloring, the shoe remains one of the most sought after Kyrie 3’s to date. Today, though, Irving has revealed an opposing colorway dressed predominately in red with yellow contrasts. This alternative colorway doesn’t appear to be a retail release. Just a little something special Kyrie pulled out for Mamba Day.

My take on Mamba Day!! For the culture only…. ?? @kobebryant

Kyrie Irving Debuts Nike Kyrie 3 “Fear” PE Against Magic

For the first time this season, the Boston Celtics broke out their new Nike Statement NBA jerseys against the Orlando Magic on Friday. And quite appropriately, Celtics star Kyrie Irving made a statement with his performance and kicks as he unveiled his new Nike Kyrie 3 “Fear” PE.

Featuring a black and neon green colorway, this PE of the Kyrie 3 also features subtle graphic detailing on the upper. The neon green is featured with Irving’s signature logo on the tongue and on the outsole.

Here’s the inspiration for the shoes from @Beensmoove:

Fear is the motivator that drives us to pursue greatness. Without fear we aren’t aggressive, we aren’t focused. Fear is the reality that everything that we value and work for can disappear in an instant. It is up to us to accept that fear is real but it is what we do with fear that separates the good from the great.

The Nike Kyrie 3 “Fear” was likely created just for Irving so don’t expect them to be released anytime soon. But hopefully Irving will lace these PEs up again, especially since he had quite the game in them as he finished with 30 points, four rebounds and three assists in Boston’s 118-103 win over the Magic.

Kyrie Irving Hopes To Have At Least 12 Nike Signature Shoes, To Make a Sneaker Clock

words // Nick DePaula:

In a recent candid conversation with Cleveland Cavaliers-centric blog WaitingForNextYear, Cavs All-Star guard Kyrie Irving spoke about his involvement with designer Leo Chang on his signature footwear, when you can expect to see the upcoming Kyrie 3 both on court and in stores, and his long-term goals for his line.

Surprisingly, Irving has just one simple goal in mind — he wants to get to 12 signature sneakers — in order to spruce up his home’s interior design.

“I have an aspiration, and Bron has it in his house: I just want to get to 12 and have a clock running,” says Kyrie. “He has a clock running of his shoes. That right there was like a goal of mine to just make it to 12 and then I could choose my best ones. So, yeah, I want to have a clock of my shoes like LeBron.”

Twelve of course works for the hourly breakdown on a clock, but is also esteemed territory for signature lines. Only Michael, Kobe, Allen Iverson, LeBron and Carmelo Anthony have received twelve or more signature models.

Sneaker clocks might not be an entirely new concept, and historically have almost exclusively featured the first dozen Air Jordan models. Hopefully, Kyrie’s revelation about LeBron’s signature timepiece might push the Cavs star to share an image of his home setup. For Irving, we’ll have to wait another nine years for that to become a reality, but we like his chances.

Kicks On Court: Kyrie Irving Scores Season High in Debut of “Dream” Nike Kyrie 1

As expected, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving debuted his first signature shoe, the Nike Kyrie 1, on court against the Knicks at The Garden last night. Much like his debut of the Nike Zoom HyperRev last season, Irving accompanied his big debut of the “Dream” Nike Kyrie 1 with a stellar performance, stat-wise; he specifically recorded a season high of 37 points in last night’s win.

In other news, LeBron James opted to debut the “Data” Nike LeBron 12 on the Madison Square Garden hardwood. LeBron’s latest debut is set to hit retailers on December 20th. View these kicks, plus more, in today’s edition of Kicks On Court.
