Kid Cudi Says He’s ‘Reborn’ After Going To Rehab For ‘Suicidal Urges’

Kid Cudi has gone to hell and back. Thankfully, with the release of his critically acclaimed collaborative project with Kanye West, Kids See Ghosts, the Cleveland rapper is finally receiving his flowers. It isn’t easy being one of the most influential artists of the last decade. In a new Billboard cover story, Cudi opens up about life after entering rehab for “depression and suicidal urges” and how it has changed his music.

“It hasn’t been said that I’m good, that I’m OK,” Cudi said. “On Passion, Pain, I never let the world know that I’m good, because I wasn’t good yet. I was thinking, how can I let the world know? It was great when Kanye wanted to use [the song], because it was perfect for both — we are both reborn after what we went through. I couldn’t have made a song like “Reborn” until now, because I didn’t feel reborn yet.

“Reborn” is one of the most inspirational songs on Kids See Ghosts. During the second verse, the Cleveland crooner proudly sings, “I had my issues, ain’t that much I could do / Peace is somethin’ that starts with me.” It is the highlight of the album and represents a place for West and Mescudi to open up to fans about their current personal struggles.

Later in the interview, Cudi also opens up about the October 2016 message he posted on Facebook and his reaction to the outpouring of support. In the post, the Passion, Pain, & Demon Slayin’ artist described how he hasn’t been “at peace,” since the beginning of his career, as a result of anxiety and depression ruling his life.

“[I] saw that the response was all love and support, and it really touched me,” he continued. “I was in a really bad place, and at the time, I felt like I was letting a lot of people down. It was really hard for me to even write that letter, but I needed to be honest with the kids. I needed to. I couldn’t live a lie. I couldn’t pretend to be happy.”

Future Proves March Madness Is Nothing Without Him On ‘Absolutely Going Brazy’

Future proved almost three years ago that his name would forever be synonymous with March Madness. Nonetheless, the Atlanta rapper is hammering home that point on his new song “Absolutely Going Brazy.” The visual is a montage of Future’s live performances over the past year.

The most entertaining but seemingly insignificant moment of the video is when a fan in the crowd holds up a sign of Pickle Rick, which poses a few questions. Is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn a closeted Rick and Morty stan? Is this fan hoping that Future will change his beverage of choice from lean to McDonald’s Szechuan Sauce?

On “Absolutely Going Brazy,” Future sings, “Stack it up, I don’t take a day off,” which, considering his output in the new year, is fairly accurate. In the past three months, Future’s received a producer credit on the upcoming film Superfly, reunited with Tinashe on “Faded Love,” released multiple videos with Young Thug, and appeared on “King’s Dead” with Kendrick Lamar and Jay Rock.

It isn’t clear what “Absolutely Going Brazy” means regarding a new Hendrix album or mixtape. However, Future makes his point well known. He is indeed still going brazy.

Kanye West: “I’m Going to China to Work on the Yeezis”

For roughly a year, the sneaker world has been waiting on pins and needles for the release of the first Kanye West collaboration with adidas. Since bouncing from the Swoosh and signing with the Three Stripes, there’s been talk of up to 20 designs and even a recent shot of a possible prototype.

While at LAX, TMZ tracked down Kanye West as he walked through the airport. Hounded by the paps about Kim K’s PAPER magazine cover and more, the constant questioning resulted in a couple laughs from Kanye and one quote:

“I’m going to China to work on the Yeezis.”

With adidas’ US headquarters in Portland and their global headquarters in Germany, this may mean the adidas Yeezis are actually in the production process. A look at the tongue tag on the Tubular, Pure Boost or Big Sean Pro Models will all reveal “Made in China” text, perhaps pointing to a Yeezi release being sooner rather than later. Peep the video below and let us know your hopes for the adidas Yeezis in the comment section.
