G-Eazy Reveals He Was Working On New Music With Halsey Days Before They Broke Up

The craziest kind of breakup tends to be the most unexpected. On Tuesday (July 3), Halsey shocked fans by announcing that she and G-Eazy were “taking time apart.” And while fans of the PDA-friendly couple are mourning the break-up, the blow is made even worse by G-Eazy’s new revelation that the pair may have been plotting new music together.

In an interview with Billboard conducted days before the couple broke up, G-Eazy revealed, “We were just in the studio the other night and we made a couple records. She’s one of the most talented people in music.”

The “Him & I” rapper also explained how special it is to make records with someone you love.

“When you get to collaborate with the person you’re in love with and share this experience of making a song and performing a song, and the person you’re sharing it with is that… that’s really dope,” he said.

Halsey’s short statement didn’t shed light on the reason for her and G-Eazy’s sudden split. The singer wished her ex “the best,” but later shared an Instagram post with a potentially shady Drake lyric as its caption. Some fans are even claiming that a recent Halsey tweet that says “pumpkin eater” could hint at why the couple broke up. It’s safe to say this isn’t the end of the conspiracy theories.

G-Eazy Is ‘Embarrassed And Apologetic’ About Recent Arrest In Sweden

Last week, G-Eazy was reportedly arrested in Sweden after an altercation at a nightclub, where he allegedly assaulted a security guard and was found in possession of cocaine after an issue with a fan, according to a TMZ report. The Bay Area rapper was ultimately charged with assaulting an officer, violent resistance, and illegal drug possession, reports Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Yesterday (May 6), G-Eazy broke his silence on the matter and went to Instagram to issue an apology. In his statement, The Beautiful & Damned artist describes being “grateful & blessed” to be free and briefly alludes to the arrest.

“Embarrassed & apologetic beyond words about the incident,” wrote G-Eazy. “But above all I’m so fucking grateful they let me go, craziest experience of my life, awful night with a lot of bad luck and some even worse decisions but like I said I’m grateful as fuck to be a free man, back on tour performing for the fans.”

“Thank you to everyone who’s held me down along the way and supported this journey,” G-Eazy continued. “I appreciate you more than you’ll ever know. Love.”

The altercation in Sweden isn’t the first time the California artist has fended off questions about his drug use. On a January interview on “The Breakfast Club”, the “Him & I” rapper was asked about rumors of his drug use after photos leaked of him with Halsey.

“I don’t know,” G-Eazy said. “It’s New Year’s Day. It’s Miami. You know what I’m saying? I’m on a yacht. What do you think I’m doing? You think I’m smoking weed?”

G-Eazy is currently on the European leg of his tour. Read his entire statement above.

G-Eazy And Charlie Puth Party Through The Decades In New ‘Sober’ Video

G-Eazy broke out the costume trunk for his latest video, rocking throwback looks from decades past for the Charlie Puth-assisted “Sober.”

The Colin Tilley-directed video kicks off with a bloodied and bruised Eazy waking up in a pile of trash, seemingly suffering a hellish hangover. He stumbles into a building that turns out to be a kind of portal, and spends the rest of the vid traveling through time. First he downs beer in the Prohibition Era, then he’s a horny husband in the ‘50s, and then he’s a long-haired hippie reveling in a psychedelic ‘70s house party. The vid comes full-circle after Eazy’s transformation into a ‘90s rave kid who runs from the cops and eventually finds himself landing in that same pile of trash.

Puth, meanwhile, doesn’t get too involved in the chaos, only appearing to sing the chorus from atop a roof in a junkyard. Bummer for him.

“Sober” follows the Halsey collaboration “Him & I” as the latest single from G-Eazy’s third album, The Beautiful & Damned. For more from the rapper, see him reading his most “extra” Instagram comments in the vid below.

The “James Dean of hip-hop” joins forces with Maybach Music Group. G-Eazy is enlisting Rockie Fresh as part of his upcoming “These Things Happen Tour,” RapFix has exclusively learned. The MMG newcomer has been named as the tour’s opening act along with Toronto rapper Tory Lanez and California native Kyle.

The Buzz On: G-Eazy

As a musical accompaniment to this tour announcement, G-Eazy recently unleashed a remix to “Been On” featuring Rockie and Tory Lanez.

The 40-date “These Things Happen Tour” kicks off February 21 in Dallas and continues with stops in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Toronto.

G-Eazy is prepping to release a new album, the follow-up to 2012′s Must Be Nice, called These Things Happen, this spring. The effort comes on the heels of a string of big wins for the Oakland rapper including opening up for Drake’s “Light Dreams and Nightmares” tour in 2010 and jumping on Lil Wayne’s “America’s Most Wanted Tour” in 2013.

Eazy spoke to Respect last year about his artistic goal of always bettering himself. “That’s the motto that I want to take after: never getting too comfortable in one spot. You want to keep pushing things forward and wanting to keep trying new things and keep getting better.”
