NIGO Explains How Tokyo’s Fashion DNA Is Ingrained In His 2014 Fall/Winter adidas Originals Collection

Leading up to the launch of his exclusive collection with adidas Originals, NIGO shares details on how Japanese fashion has influenced the adidas Originals by NIGO line. While known in the past for his signature all-over-print graphics, NIGO speaks on how his interest in “basic fashion,” which is not concerned with seasons or eras, helped shape a collection that could be worn by a wide range of people, from children to adults. Further elaborating on his design approach, NIGO tips his hat to the ’80s Tokyo era, in which mixing of many different fashion looks and concepts took place, to support his design concept to utilize silhouettes and inspiration from the past while adding personal details and modernizing the fit of each piece. The adidas Originals by NIGO collection is set for a worldwide release on October 24 at select adidas Originals stocklists.

Opening Ceremony 2014 Fall/Winter Collection

Legend has it that Antwerp — the Belgian city known for its incredible architecture and design — was originally named after a soldier who marked his victory against a giant by cutting off its hand. Inspired by the city and this myth, retailer and label Opening Ceremony created a Fall/Winter 2014 collection around the central motif of hands, incorporating them over a wide variety of its stylish, forward-thinking garments. Standouts from the range include pieces like the Dimensional Fingerprint Front Zip Pullover Jacket — an all-over fingerprint pullover with a zipper detail that can be done up for a pleat in the front, or left unzipped for an oversized silhouette — the cotton fleece Zipper Gusset T-Shirt in orange, Wool Large Front Zip Pullover Jacket and Dimensional Fingerprint Classic OC Varsity Jacket. Rounding out the collection, meanwhile, are more classic, wearable designs like the logo-embroidered tees and hoodies, along with both casual and formal trousers. Look for Opening Ceremony’s Fall/Winter 2014 collection now at the HYPEBEAST Store.

Hermès 2014 Fall/Winter “Men etcetera” Video

Parisian fashion house Hermès kicked off its “Metamorphosis”-themed year with two quirky videos; one, aptly named “Metamorphosis,” detailed the brand’s vast 2014 offerings, and the other, “Man on the Move,” humorously highlighted the spring/summer menswear range. Continuing with the overall transformative nature, the revered brand premieres “Man etcetera.” While the above actor finds himself mysteriously transported through the “looking glass,” Véronique Nichanian’s fall/winter range becomes the “player in a surrealist performance, layering its sombre tones, and juxtaposing matte and shine in a mirror-perfect display.”

Both pieces are offered in versatile shades like grey, burgundy and marine, and can be found now — along with the brand’s Fall/Winter 2014 items — now at the HYPEBEAST Store.
