Jake Danklefs Creates a Nike Air Monarch x Air Max 90 Hybrid

Jake Danklefs, known to many in the business as Dank Customs, has made a name for himself with his custom sneaker work of deconstruction and reconstruction of sneakers that matches the quality and execution of factory production. Over the years Jake has created some memorable hybrids by giving new life to two silhouettes by swapping the midsole/outsole tooling with a different upper.

While Father’s Day was just last month (where we interviewed the father of the dad shoe), Jake has pumped up the level of Air for the Nike Air Monarch with this creation – the Nike Air Monarch Max 90.

Coming in every dad’s favorite color scheme of white leather and navy, these are perfect for the Sunday shopper whether he’s working the bar-b-que out back, styling with a worn in pair of wranglers, or needing to speak to the manager at Chili’s about the cold plate of ribs that were just delivered to the table.

AMAC Creates “Soles With A Purpose” Initiative

Many times whenever we procure sneakers from our favorite retailers, there isn’t any specific “redeeming” value other than to pacify our need for new gear. However, it seems as though Oklahoma City based footwear brand AMAC is looking to create an incredible venture entitled “Soles With A Purpose” in which each purchase of their kicks leads to an incredible benefit to others. The venture looks to provide 20 years of clean water with every sneaker purchase through AMAC’s non-profit partner, Water Wells for Africa.

Furthermore, AMAC is launching their debut silhouette, the Katema, this Saturday, March 12th at AMAC. Head over to their site, as linked previously, for additional details.

Dank Customs Creates “Whataburger” Inspired Nike Dunk Lows

For many Southerns there is essentially an unwritten rule that everyone must enjoy Whataburger. From their incredible Spicy Ketchup to the patented Cheeseburgers, plenty of “outsiders” from other states will attest to the goodness of the hamburger chain as our own Sid Ashford has witnessed plenty of NBA stars covet the staple after games during his Kicks on Court experiences.

Building upon the aforementioned hype, noted sneaker artist Dank Customs recently created a “Whatburger” Nike Dunk Low that features the rather iconic orange color-blocking and pinstripes throughout the upper. In addition, further shades of orange are seen as well while being serendipitously accentuated by an aging outsole that provides the perfect touch. All in all, Dank Customs continues to provide quality work and you can see more of his creations over at his Instagram account.
