SSENSE Links with Reebok for 3M Centric Run.r 96 Collaboration

After making its excitable retail debut earlier this month alongside a hightop knit counterpart, there’s much to look forward to regarding the Reebok Run.r 96. It’s the type of shoe that defies tradition, barks back at conformity, and triumphs through innovation and strategic risk. Further, its striking yet minimal canvas is ideal for collaborative design. The first to test those waters is retail giant SSENSE.

Depicting the duality of night and day, SSENSE looks to the sky — more intimately the moon — for its inspiration. Covering the low-cut style entirely in 3M materials, the gleaming upper is representative of a full moon and its illuminating glow.

Perched atop a compartmentalized sole unit that takes from an unreleased Pump Evo Prototype from 1996, a mesh exterior joins a lace toggle at the shoes centermost point adding another aesthetic layer to the contemporary design.

The SSENSE x Reebok Run.r 96 will release on June 28, the next calendar date when a full moon will be at work. Pairs will be available both on ssense.com and in-store at SSENSE Montreal.

Kim Jones Debuts Newly Designed Air Max Collaboration

Newly crowned Dior Menswear Artistic Director, Kim Jones, hasn’t yet shown his debut collection in his new role. Many are still reeling from one of his final acts during his post at Louis Vuitton, a collaboration with Supreme that stands as one of the most influential in recent memory.

Jones, though, whether with Louis Vuitton or now with Doir, won’t stop working with Nike. Proven this week when the talented designer debuted a budding Air Max sneaker and matching apparel collection, Jones’s modern creation highlights fused mesh and leather fabrication matched alongside full-length Visible Air with “Kim Jones” written across the translucent midsole tube. An enlarged Swoosh blankets the sleek monotone grey upper while a top strap that mimics the Nike Vandal — Jones’ favorite sneaker growing up — punctuates the look.

This Kim Jones x Nike Air Max sneaker hasn’t been vindicated with specific release details. We do know that Jones’ Nike collaboration is available to some degree at Dover Street Market London. Stay tuned for more details.

Patta and Nike Produce Friends and Family Air Span II Collaboration

Amsterdam-based retailer Patta has worked alongside Nike several times in the past. The two have partnered to produce striking iterations of the Air Max 1, Cortez, and more to great success. Now they turn their attention to the ’90s centric Air Span II that is previewed for the first time today.

This friends and family release is subtle in nature given its white, grey and black palette. Lively pops of orange are sprinkled throughout the silhouette while Patta branding appears dead center at the shoes tongue. To close, the collaboration is finished with a special-edition “Publicity, Publicity, Wohooooow” box designed by Linda van Deursen.

BAIT Pulls from Original Reebok DMX Run 10 Sketches for New Collaboration

Following the reveal of their collaborative Reebok Question Mid “Snake 2.0” yesterday, BAIT digs further into the brand’s archive for inspiration for their second partnering release with the brand.

Inspired by deep study of the Reebok archive, including some of the earliest sketches of the DMX Run 10, BAIT debuts DMX Run 10 and DMX Fusion iterations under the “Ideation Department” moniker. The former takes into consideration the original notations of DMX Run 10 designer Bill Marvin and superimposes them over the technical drawings of the DMX sole-unit technology, using layers of transparent TPU across the upper.

The DMX Fusion is a modern re-tooling riddled in DMX heritage. Similar superimposing design aesthetics are seen through technical drawings and layers of translucent TPU and fuse technology.

The BAIT x Reebok DMX “Ideation Department” Pack is available on BAITme.com now. The pack will also be available in Los Angeles this weekend for All-Star Weekend.

Converse Continues NBA Collaboration with “City” and “Discovery” Edition Chuck Taylors

American footwear mainstay Converse extends its partnership with the NBA next week with two influential releases. Exploring the history of many of the league’s most storied franchises and the classic logos that have guided them through decades, Converse debuts City and Discovery Editions of the adored Chuck Taylor ’70.

Basketball, one of the ultimate cultural unifiers, stands at the center of this partnering NBA release which starts with the City Edition ($ 100). Here, Converse explores, and pays tribute to, famed logos over canvas Chuck Taylor’s inspired by the model’s design back in the 1970s.

As its moniker suggests, the Discovery Edition ($ 125) dives deeper into team heritage, vindicating context surrounding historically rich franchises. The Clippers pair touches on their port roots, while the Sixers edition highlights their championship years dating back to the 1950’s.

Available now in its entirety at Converse.com, take a detailed look at the NBA x Converse collection below and expect additional stock at global retailers on February 14.

Patta and ASICS Releasing Gel-Mai Knit Collaboration

Dutch label Patta has a long-standing and successful partnership with ASICS. A union that spans far longer than many if not all other sneaker collaborations. It’s restored today with news that ASICS has offered up their ’90s trail runner, the Gel-Mai, for collaborative consumption.

Undergoing acute changes over the years since its inception, the ASICS Gel-Mai in modern form is enhanced with a knit upper married to a premium nubuck overlay. Where shading is concerned the look is appropriately autumn, oozing in rich brown hues that house the silo’s asymmetrical lacing system. Supported by a sock-like ankle collar in a contrasting rose shade, “Patta” marks the knitted heel while “ASICS” branding employs the tongue tab. This modernized Gel-Mai is fittingly punctuated by 3m reflective details throughout the shoe’s centermost point and quarter paneling.

Look for the Patta x ASICS Gel-Mai Knit at Patta Amsterdam and London locations on October 14 followed by an online release on October 16. A global release at ASICS retailers will trail both on November 4.

The Good Will Out and adidas Debut Ninja-Inspired CS1 Collaboration

German retailer The Good Will Out, the latest to join a very busy adidas Consortium world tour, today debuts what may be the best NMD CS1 collaboration of the year.

Driven by creative inspiration derived in Japan, and the region’s Shinobi ninja, the sneaker denotes a stealthy noir sentiment with three interlocking Primeknit patterns across the mid-cut upper. Heightening the theme is black color Boost cushioning, which appears slightly bolstered given the ridged outsole construction below.

Subtle touches of branding mark both the tongue tab and the heel tape that jointly reads “The Art of Seeing Through Darkness” and “The Good Will Out” in both English and Japanese. On September 16, the shoe will release exclusively at TGWO with a wider release at Consortium retailers the following week.

Grab a look at The Good Will Out x adidas NMD CS1 below and expect retail for the shoe to land at $ 220 USD.
