Meek Mill Was The Real Winner Of The Super Bowl

Meek Mill said it best, “I used to pray for times like this.” Tonight (February 4), the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl in franchise history and the moment was soundtracked by one of the most inspirational songs in hip-hop history.

In November, Mill was sentenced to two to four years after a judge ruled that he violated his probation. However, his city’s football team kept his name alive in the locker room and on the field. In a statement to Bleacher Report, the incarcerated rapper described how much the Eagles being inspired by his music meant to him.

“It really lifted my spirit to hear the team rally around my songs because that’s why I make music — to inspire others and bring people together,” said Meek. “The Eagles have also motivated me with the way they’ve overcome tough situations and injuries to succeed this year.”

Here are some of the best Meek Mill reactions from celebrities, fans, and sports fanatics.

  1. Dance, Dance We’re Falling Apart To Halftime

We wouldn’t be mad if Meek Mill was having a dance, dance revolution in his cell. The man deserves it.

  2. Kiss The Ring

Please get Jacob the Jeweler on the line ASAP and make this happen.

  3. Free Meek Mill

The “Dreams and Nightmare (Intro)” means so much to the Eagles and the city of Philadelphia that #FreeMeekMill is trending on Twitter.

  4. Prison Break

    Someone call Wentworth Miller.

  5. Future Mills

This gets the award for the most heartfelt message of the night.

  6. Where Is Uzi?

Somewhere a Hot Topic employee is helping Lil Uzi Vert decide his outfit for the upcoming parade. Wonder if he’ll give a shout out to his city’s other famous rapper.

  7. Yo, Adrian!

My Journey Inside the 2016 Russell Bowl with the Miami Hurricanes and adidas AlphaBOUNCE PE

Player Exclusive sneakers represent a culture built around a team, its players, staff and more importantly the fans. These shoes are rarely ever sold to the public, so when brands like adidas create the PEs, fans and sneakerheads alike are often left lusting after the exclusivity and desire to further connect with said team or athlete. Recently, the brand with three stripes showcased the latest wave of Player Exclusives celebrating their College Football teams who earned the right to play in NCAA Bowl Games.

As a huge fan of both College Football and sneakers, I decided I wanted to bring you and everyone else into the experience that allows shoes like the adidas AlphaBounce “Miami Hurricanes” PE to be created. So, I got with adidas and said, “Hey, let’s go to the Bowl Game in Orlando and show why you guys made these PEs and make it a moment.” Their reply was, “Let’s do it!”

Take the journey with me through a series of photos as you get exclusive access behind the scenes and a sideline view of the culture that is Miami Hurricanes Football. From pre-game setup to Coach wearing Yeezys and even the raising of the championship trophy, welcome to the 2016 Russell Bowl in Orlando, Florida. Enjoy the ride!

Gridiron Kicks Spotlight: Greatest Sneaker Moments In Super Bowl History

With Super Bowl XLIX occurring this Sunday the bevy of intriguing footwear set to be donned by a variety of players is vast. With the likes of Jordan Brand athlete Earl Thomas and Nike endorser Darrelle Revis controlling their respective secondaries, we may need to even elicit the help of our very own George Kiel with the potential kicks that will be displayed on Sunday. So with that notion in mind, we decided to take a look at some of the best sneaker moments in Super Bowl history in the latest edition of Gridiron Kicks Spotlight. To see for yourself, flip through the pages below to let us know your favorite Super Bowl memory involving iconic kicks.

Super Bowl XXIV: Ronnie Lott

Ronnie Lott was Kam Chancellor before Kam ever patrolled a secondary on the gridiron. Lott’s ferocious nature and incredible tackling ability made him a force to be reckoned with in the 49ers’ secondary for years. Rumor has it that Lott even allowed for the severance of his own finger to get back into a game during his illustrious playing career. With those notions provided, you can imagine how John Elway and company felt in Super Bowl XXIV as they took on the 49ers. In what would become a blowout in favor of the 49ers, Lott would start and contribute heavily while rocking this black and varsity red colorway of the Air Jordan 4.

Asher Roth Takes Our Super Bowl Pop Quiz

The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will face off in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, so a few days ahead of the big game we decided to give Asher Roth a pop quiz to test his knowledge of the game and pop culture. Questions ranged from past Super Bowl halftime performances, to the final score in last year’s showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Check it out above.

Rich Homie Quan Helps Michigan State Celebrate Rose Bowl Win

By Sean Lynch

The Michigan State Spartans went into Pasadena, California, last night and won the 100th Rose Bowl in dramatic fashion. The win over the University of Stanford Cardinal had just about everyone feeling some “Type of Way.” None more than Atlanta’s rising star, Rich Homie Quan.

Quan and the Spartans have quite a unique connection off the field. The team from up north practically adopted Quan’s 2013 hit “Type of Way,” inside of the locker room. Videos of the team celebrating inside of the locker room; dancing and echoing the lyrics, surfaced going viral each time. Following a huge win over their rival University of Michigan, earlier this year, the Spartans found their fight song.

The anthem would be heard loud and clear on their way to a strong finish (13-1) and a ranking of #4 in the nation. The connection between the Atlanta based rapper and college football powerhouse became more evident when head coach, Mark Dantonio, gave Quan one heck of a shoutout during his Big Ten championship postgame interview.

Quan was taken back by the humbling adoption by the MSU football team. Following a New Year’s Eve performance in Charlotte, Quan spoke with Michigan based outlet, MLive. “For me to be on the field with Michigan State at the Rose Bowl, I’ll have the butterflies,” Quan explained during the phone interview. “I didn’t go to college, so this means a lot. I just want to shout out to the whole Michigan State alumni, it’s so special just to be a part of this movement.”

Getting to the Rose Bowl would not be so simple for the ATL rapper. MLive cites a number of personnel between both parties helped make it happen including Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis, Head Coach Mark Dantonio, former Spartans football player andAtlanta recording studio CEO/owner Curtis Daniel III, Michigan State associate athletic director Alan Haller and director of college advancement and performance camp/director Curtis Blackwell all had hands in pulling Quan’s appearance off.

An early flight on Wednesday morning saw him landing in Los Angeles, followed by a drive to Pasadena. In the end, Quan ended up on hand for the game and celebration as the #4 Michigan State Spartans defeated the #5 Stanford Cardinal in the 100th Rose Bowl.
