Nike’s Air Revaderchi Goes All Black for Summer

Originally released back in 1992 as a functional hiking model, Nike’s Air Revaderchi is just one of the many sneakers in the brand’s densely populated archive that almost works better today than it did decades ago.

The angular, multifaceted design is flush with premium materials. Dripping in AGC heritage with traces of Huarache DNA, this all-black variation reveals the great nuance in Nike designs circa ’92. Joining neoprene and suede fabrication before it was industry standard, much of what Nike did during the original ACG era was light years ahead of all others. The Air Revaderchi doesn’t often get credit for being amongst that bunch.

This all-black edition serves to strengthen that claim with a summer release. Grab a pair now for $ 140 at Feature.

J. Cole Calls SoundCloud Rappers ‘Exaggerated Versions Of Black Stereotypes’

J. Cole didn’t pull any punches on “1985 (Intro To ‘The Fall Off’)”. The KOD closer finds the Fayetteville rapper taking shots at anonymous rappers who glorify stereotypical portrayals of African-Americans. Many people think Cole’s subliminals are for Lil Pump or Smokepurpp. However, in a new Vulture profile, Cole reveals his critique is meant for a variety of people.

“It’s really a ‘shoe fits’ situation — several people can wear that shoe,” Cole said. “Why you yelling at your show? You must feel attacked in some kind of way, must feel offended, and if you feel offended, then that means something rings true, something struck a chord. That’s cool with me. That’s all I ever want to do.”

Cole made a more pointed statement later in the interview about the caricatures many SoundCloud rappers paint of the black community.

“If you exclude the top three rappers in the game, the most popping rappers all are exaggerated versions of black stereotypes,” the Kids on Drugs rapper continued. “Extremely tatted up. Colorful hair. Flamboyant. Brand names. It’s caricatures, and still the dominant representation of black people, on the most popular entertainment format for black people, period.”

On “1985,” Cole describes why he believes a white audience wants to see negative portrayals of black and brown artists.

But have you ever thought about your impact?
These white kids love that you don’t give a fuck
‘Cause that’s exactly what’s expected when your skin black
They wanna see you dab, they wanna see you pop a pill
They wanna see you tatted from your face to your heels
And somewhere deep down, fuck it, I gotta keep it real
They wanna be black and think your song is how it feels

Recently, Cole has released two videos from KOD — “A.T.M.” and “Kevin’s Heart.” Both songs see the Dreamville rapper taking a close look at the addictive qualities of money, sex, and drugs. It’s safe to say Cole has a message to tell and he isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

Newly Tooled adidas Yeezy 700 in “Utility Black” Has Emerged

Less than 24 hours after Kanye West revealed new iterations of the Yeezy Boost 350 v2, Yeezy 500 and the upcoming Yeezy basketball shoe, the often unseen, newly re-tooled Yeezy 700 appears in a “Utility Black” colorway.

With a varying midsole that tracks wider than the original, the sloped upper of this 700 is slightly more slanted as opposed to the retail debut. A combination of suede and leather fabrication adorn the modern-day “dad shoe” which comes retro-fitted in a weathered aesthetic.

Kanye West has been on a tear lately and it’s poised to be another huge year for brand Yeezy. Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming adidas Yeezy 700 “Utility Black” release.

Kendrick Lamar Wants To Play A Misunderstood Villain In Black Panther 2

With Black Panther establishing a groundbreaking hit franchise for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans are already looking ahead to the (practically inevitable) sequel. One such fan is Kendrick Lamar, the film’s sonic maestro, who curated its star-studded, chart-topping soundtrack.

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1 — following his fiery BRITs performance — host Clara Amfo asked Kendrick about the possibility of landing a cameo role in the next Black Panther flick.

“Come on, I got to now!” the rapper responded, adding that he’d love to portray a multi-layered antagonist like Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger. “I really enjoy Killmonger’s character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real [talk]. … He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger for sure.”

Kendrick also spoke about crafting the Black Panther soundtrack, saying, “Not even talking about the music – just the movie and the cast and the director – I think it’s something that not only stands within its moment, but stands within time. We’re talking about timeless films and things that are going to curate after this film. When we got to the music, I just wanted to make sure that I could complement that and be a part of [it] in the best way I could.”

From everything we’ve seen, Kendrick and Black Panther have been a truly excellent match, so here’s hoping he can take that relationship to the next level and land that coveted cameo.

adidas NMD R1 STLT “Core Black” // Available Now

The latest release that helps bolster the ever-growing adidas NMD family is the STLT edition. It’s a sleek, stripped down Primeknit model with traditional NMD midsole tooling and full-length Boost. Yet with this new colorway, the shoe not only takes from the customary NMD R1, it also looks eerily similar to a certain tie-dye collaboration from years past.

Released back in 2016, with a red and black Primeknit upper over noir EVA plugs and white Boost, the Nice Kicks x adidas Consortium NMD Runner PK easily serves as inspiration for this budding STLT. We’ll certainly accept it as flattery, as this colorway turned out exceptionally well. But given its clear inspiration, how could it not?

Check out the adidas NMD R1 STLT “Core Black” below and pick up a pair now for $ 170 at Feature.

Jordan Brand Supports Black Lives Matter Movement with Air Jordan 1

Earlier today Jordan Brand’s Frank Cooker debuted a new Air Jordan 1 both powerful in its message and harmonious in its timing.

His Air Jordan 1 “Black Lives Matter” could very well be a custom or sample never meant to see the light of day at retail. Yet whatever they are, the black-on-black colorway sends a powerful message of unity and inclusion in a time that we need it most.

This, however, isn’t the first time Jordan Brand has created with inspiration by African-American culture. Their annual Black History Month collection is an ode to equal rights and equality. Given a potential release of this BLM Air Jordan 1, Jordan Brand would easily be the most woke sportswear company in the biz.

No release details for this Air Jordan 1 are known. Stay tuned as we hope to have more information soon.
