Agenda Report // Showroom Style at Day 2 in Long Beach

photos by Gabe Oshin

As the anticipation mounts for Agenda Festival tomorrow in Long Beach headlined by Brockhampton, the trade show is still in full swing.

With shop buyers and brands most focused on future product and meetings, the showroom floor still proves a runway of sorts for all involved. Thus was the case yesterday, as attendees brought out everything from custom creations from Nike’s LA All-Star activation to Yeezy boots in the summer season.

Day 2 saw releases from Off-White and the Kanye camp plentiful, with the Air Jordan 1 still the most popular silo from Mike’s franchise but not the only one that came to play. From “Cool Grey” 3s to YG’s Reebok collab, see what was worn in The LBC in the photos below.

Agenda Report // Sneaker Invaders Descends in Long Beach

photos by Gabe Oshin

Vintage video games and sneakers have long had shared audience with the latest SEGA x PUMA collab catering to such. While said marriage has usually resulted in footwear offspring, we saw the opposite equivalent at Agenda Long Beach with the debut of Sneaker Invaders.

An arcade game, the aesthetic and game style is that of Space Invaders with classic footwear replacing that of aliens and aircraft. Both the models and music from the game cater to each decade at each level, reprogrammed with the digital sound and look from said era.

Get a glimpse at the game below and check out their website here.

Circling the Miami-based theme with hues that track back to the LeBron 8s from years ago, a Pure Platinum/Obsidian-Kinetic Green palette does its best South Beach impersonation with the help of vibrant pink accents.

Agenda Report // Trend Tracking at the Long Beach Tradeshow

words by Darren Griffin & Ian Stonebrook

As the new year begins, so does Tradeshow Season. Always serving as a platform for new product and new trends, the Agenda Show in Long Beach was no different as it provided a unique preview of what to expect both in stores, on streets and on feet in 2017.

Paying close attention to the shifts we saw both on attendees who were geared up as usual to the new shoes that you’ll see in stores later this year, get a quick rundown of the trends we see on the horizon thanks to our time at Agenda Long Beach.

Flood Fashion Influencing Footwear

Just as joggers put retro runners in play and sidelined high top hoop shoes, high cut and cuffed pants are paving the way for a wave of skate and tennis classics. While models like the NMD, Ultra Boost and Air Jordan 1 were expected favorites on the showroom floor, the change in pants also saw models like the Vans Old Skool, Converse One Star and Reebok Club C playing toward the punk movement that’s slowly washing away athleisure and grunge as the go-to garb.

All-Knit Everything

adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged LTD "White"

Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit "Bright Mango"

While the adidas NMD was the inline favorite that ruled the sneaker world in 2016, the adidas Ultra Boost Uncaged and Nike Air Presto Ultra Flyknit are the two shoes that brands un-associated with a Swoosh or Stripes are taking note of. Just like the resurgence of the Air Huarache saw neoprene styles debuting in any and every brand, knit sneakers are becoming the most common trend in athletic footwear with more playing towards the sock styling of the previously mentioned models.

Is Retro Dead?

adidas Stan Smith Boost

Appetite for nostalgia may have finally gotten to the point where it’s made everyone sick. Yes, retro sneakers will still live in the culture, and yes, there’s some cool surprises in store for this year, but in general it appears younger consumers are no longer interested in living in the past and brands are taking note. While running, tennis and workout silos that have long lasted in the market will remain, they will do so much more with modern construction like knit uppers and synthetic tape finishes. ‘Classic’ product seems to be gravitating more towards affordable skate shoes and tennis models your grandpa would’ve worn on Sundays as opposed to $ 200 bringbacks juiced by signature athletes.

Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals “Pink Beach” Collection // First Look

Pharrell Williams has never been one to conform. In fact, it’s that defiant attitude that’s made him one of the most innovative creators of our time. Therefore, in his latest venture with adidas, he opts to mold new silhouettes in lieu of recreating elder models – a road less traveled where sneaker collaborations are concerned.

The Pharrell Williams x adidas Originals “Pink Beach” Collection effectively validates the adidas Elastic Lace Up and Elastic Slip On, respectively. Each models come in two colorways, one of which in White/Fairway Green like the OG Stan Smith and another in a patterned, multicolored base with black and brown accents at the tongue and heel. Skateboard’s logo then hits the heel on each pair.

Hanon indicates the release is set for May 5. Stay tuned for potential U.S. release details.
