Nicki Minaj Will Reign Over The 2018 VMAs With A Queenly Performance

Bow down, Barbz. Just days after dropping her long-awaited fourth album, Queen, Nicki Minaj will hit the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards for a special remote performance, presented by PEPSI, that’s sure to be epic.

How do we know? Because Nicki’s given us precisely that no fewer than six times this decade. The rapper made her VMA debut in 2010, performing on the pre-show red carpet, and she’s since hit the main stage five times, busting out “Anaconda” in 2014 and “Trini Dem Girls” in 2015, just to name a couple.

Minaj’s two most recent VMA performances have seen her sharing the stage — she joined Ariana Grande for “Side to Side” in 2016 and Katy Perry for “Swish Swish” last year — but this time, the queen is ridin’ solo. Or, who knows, maybe she’ll have a surprise up her sleeve. It’s the VMAs, so anything could happen!

Not only is Minaj performing at the August 20 bash — from a secret, iconic location in New York — but she’s also looking to take home her fourth Moon Person. The Queen MC’s futuristic “Chun-Li” is nominated for Best Hip-Hop Video.

Minaj joins a star-studded roster of artists performing at the 2018 VMAs, including Travis Scott, Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Logic with Ryan Tedder, and this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard recipient, Jennifer Lopez. And we’re not even done rolling out the announcements…

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Voting is now open at vma.mtv.com!

Travis Scott And Post Malone Are About To Wreak Havoc On The 2018 VMAs

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards are going to Astroworld. However, the show might make a pit stop in a post-apocalyptic wasteland if one Texan has his way. Travis Scott and Post Malone are bringing their unique brand of melodic havoc and destruction to the stage this year.

Scott’s first solo VMA performance, after he partnered with Thirty Seconds to Mars last year, will be a medley from his third studio album. The Houston rapper will have a lot of fan-favorite material to choose from. Astroworld’s standout “Sicko Mode” featuring Drake and Swae Lee is headed for a top 10 debut on the Billboard Hot 100. Not to be outdone, “Stop Trying To Be God,” featuring Kid Cudi, James Blake, Stevie Wonder, and Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, already has a superb Dave Meyers-directed visual that sees Travis playing the role of Jesus, while Kylie Jenner is a golden sparkling goddess.

Post Malone has a slew of hits to pick from as well off his platinum-certified album, beerbongs & bentleys. Will he perform the tried and true “rockstar” featuring 21 Savage, decide to go with “Psycho” featuring Ty Dolla $ ign, or show off his solo chops with “Better Now?”

Both musicians lay claim to the most successful first-week totals for an album in 2018, behind Drake’s Scorpion. If projections hold, Scott’s Astroworld, will debut with 450,000 to 500,000 equivalent album units. His only competition for the second biggest release is Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys, which debuted on the Billboard 200 with 461,000.

Scott and Post will be joining a packed performance slate, which includes Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Logic with Ryan Tedder. Jennifer Lopez will perform too, in addition to accepting this year’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The 2018 VMAs is set to be the year pop’s new ruling class takes over.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Voting is now open at vma.mtv.com!

Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, And Logic With Ryan Tedder Will Perform At The 2018 VMAs

Every year, the MTV Video Music Awards stage becomes a glittering showcase on which the biggest acts of the year can bring their songs to life. This year, it’s really going to reach the heavens — thanks to Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, and Logic with Ryan Tedder, who will all perform at the 2018 VMAs.

Ari’s set to bring the divinity-channeling “God Is a Woman” to the stage just a few days after her upcoming album, Sweetener, drops; it’s also her first time back performing at the VMAs since the steamy cardio session she shared with Nicki Minaj for “Side to Side” in 2016. Ari also has five VMA noms to boast about this year, including Video of the Year (for “No Tears Left to Cry”) and Artist of the Year.

Mendes, meanwhile, will return with guitar in hand to deliver “In My Blood,” the lead single from his self-titled 2018 release, after rocking the house (and nearly disappearing into the crowd) last year for “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back.” “In My Blood” nabbed one of Mendes’s three noms, including Best Pop.

After a powerful and poignant rendition of “1-800-273-8255” at the 2017 VMAs, Logic is back with a brand new single called “One Day.” He’ll get some help performing it on this year’s stage from OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, who features on the track. Logic’s nominated twice this year for “1-800,” including Best Collaboration and Video With a Message.

This new slate of performers join an already packed show, including an explosive performance by Jennifer Lopez, who’s also set to receive the storied Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Meanwhile, Cardi B and Jay-Z and Beyoncé The Carters lead the nominations with 10 and eight, respectively — but it’s always anybody’s game. You can help pick the winners right now by voting for your faves, so you’d better get to it.

The 2018 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Monday, August 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Voting is now open at vma.mtv.com!

Here’s Why Young Thug Says He Won’t Release New Music In 2018

Young Thug’s always been an unconventional, unpredictable guy who commands our attention. Earlier this week, for instance, he jumped on Twitter late at night to announce that he’s changing his name to SEX. It remains to be seen whether he actually follows through with that or not, but now, Thug’s made another announcement that no one ever expected.

As The Fader points out, the Atlanta rapper revealed in a recent Hypebeast interview that he doesn’t plan to release new music in 2018. The reason is surprisingly poignant: He’s doing it out of respect for his deaf brother.

“I’ve got a deaf brother,” Thug says in the clip. “I’ve got a brother who can’t hear or talk, so I want to act deaf for a year. So I ain’t going to put out no music this year.”

Thug also gave an update on his long-teased Hi-Tunes album — which he’s said is “on the way” as far back as 2015 — saying, “In 2019, I’m going to put out probably Hi-Tunes.”

It’s worth nothing that Young Thug has already had a pretty active 2018 so far — he’s hopped on tracks with A-Trak and Shad Da God — and there may be other pre-recorded guest verses on the way. In any case, vowing to intentionally slow down his hot streak is a powerful thing, especially when you consider that he’s doing it for an amazing reason.

Agenda Report // G-Star RAW Previews Fall 2018 Footwear Collection

Coming off their vastly impactful collaborative offering with multi-disciplinary, Pharrell Williams, which champions sustainability, individualism and cultural diversity, G-Star RAW looks ahead to fall with a new footwear offering that both teeters the line of past design expression and contemporary aesthetics guided by modernism and function.

Keeping with traditional cool weather silhouettes, a lightweight yet high-arching boot emerges as the most progressive model we sampled. An inner bootie serves as a seamless measure to get into the boot alongside ensuring increased comfort thanks to the neoprene fabrication. The shoe’s rich nubuck is finished in an alluring shade of navy, which is slightly offset by a smooth leather eyestay and corresponding heel tab. Construction of the boot’s midsole uniquely appears compartmentalized, lined around the toe and front foot while the quarter panel and heel is visibly more direct.

In a more foundational sneaker approach, G-Star RAW also revealed a budding low-cut style with great shaping and midsole curvature. Seen here in white – although there are black and grey options, too – paneled detailing adds depth to the upper while a padded ankle collar promotes comfort at the foot opening. Smartly, the lip of the outsole curves upwards at the heel, giving the silhouette greater distinction and profile.

Each of these styles – and several others of a similar volition – are set to release this August in line with the brand’s fall 2018 collection. Take a detailed look below and stay tuned for more from G-Star RAW and Nice Kicks at Agenda Long Beach.
